It’s the day of graduation, I am finally finished year 12, think of it I am graduating, me Tom, me Tom Lee. I was late and I can see everyone lined up on stage in their graduation uniforms. I go and sit in line still struggling to put my graduation uniform on, but before I sat down I quickly scanned the room for my parents, but I can’t see them anywhere. I can feel Lola my girlfriend, lips up against my cheek realizing she was sitting next to me, I took her hand and squeezed it tight, showing a nervous look on my face, my parents had never been late for anything before, in fact they were always early, and they always come to school events, but I am worried because dad had a heart attack about a month ago and he’s been having chest pains lately. I could hear the crowd talking, and as the principal said good morning to start the graduation ceremony, there were only murmurs in the crowd now, they called the first few names, and then I heard mine, I leaped out of my seat with excitement, and I pushed my way to the front, when I got up there a teacher came rushing through the doors and shouted “someone has collapsed outside, I think he’s suffered from a heart attack, we need to call an ambulance”. Silence swept over everyone I could see my mum in the distance, sitting outside with my father’s head on her lap, I stood their frozen, my mouth started to go numb, and I felt like vomiting, I felt myself fall to my knees. I felt a tear drop fall down my face I could tell the ambulance wasn’t going to get to him on time, the tears are flooding my eyes now. I can’t really remember what happened in those few minutes it took for the ambulance to come, but now I am hear with my dad in the hospital and sadly saying one last goodbye.
