(So ... Hello there? It's been a while but I've been watching The Bad Batch recently and remembered that I haven't been writing a lot lately. So as an apology I give you funny videos and little bits of the story.)
It was late at night and Fern was laying in bed wide awake. She could hear some of the clones snoring loudly below her. Sighing, she rolls over and pulls a tanned leather book out from under her bed. Fern grabs a pencil and turns on her lamp, she begins to write.
Tuesday, aka Day 5 of the Boys being Here
Today was ... different. After returning home from our day in the woods, all the boys sat down in the living room. I sat at the dining table to log down all the birds I saw on the trail until Jessie came up to me. I saw the plaster on his face and sighed, "I apologize for the other night, I've been told that I can get quite hostile when cornered."
Jessie rubbed the back of his neck slightly, "Eh, well, you got yourself pretty good too. So I guess we're even." He smiled lightly before our attention was turned to the others, who were looking at a pile of history books. They asked for an explanation, as they saw the cover of a WWI book. Jessie went over to them as I finished up my log. But as I stood up to join them, a loud crunching noise came from my knee. It forces me to sit back down as the pain of the trapped nerve pulses up my leg. "Fern!" Kix came over to me in an instant to see if I was ok.
I'm still not used to that.
I nodded, saying it was just a trapped nerve and that they happen all the time, so there was no need to worry. By then the others had come over and were looking at me with a face ... I didn't quite know. After a minute I could stand again and I walked to the sofa where the books were. I went over the first and second world wars before bed.
A loud thump interrupted Fern, the sound coming from the room beneath her. Pausing for a moment Fern listened in to try and determine if anything was wrong. After nothing for a minute, the girl resumed her writing.
Wednesday, aka Day 6 of the Boys being Here
After yesterday, some of the clones had been paying more attention to me than normal. It's odd really, I'm so used to being the one everyone ignores or just doesn't see in the first place. To have people not only notice me but be concerned like that as well ... it's been so long since that happened to me.
I was finishing eating when I heard a sound. It was a high pitch, bearly audible one, but a sound nonetheless. I was looking around for a few minutes before I started getting agitated, it looked like the others couldn't hear it, but I could. And it was fricking annoying.
Eventually, Rex found me walking in the hallway where I had narrowed the noise down too. He asked if I was alright, but I suppose shaking my head to try and rid the sound from my ears gave him the wrong impression.
"Uhh, do you need me to get Kix?" He asked again, looking somewhat ... concerned? I really need to learn facial expressions better. Anyway. I replied that I'm fine but asked if he could hear the noise that was bothering me. He couldn't, so I explained that there was a high pitch sound coming from around here and that I was trying to find it. I also had to explain how my two 'mental conditions' made me hypersensitive to pretty much everything. Also how Autism and Dyslexia work and how they affect the brain.
Eventually, we found the thing that was making the sound. It was a clogged water filter in the Marauder ant terrariums water feature.
Fern was about to write one more entry to her journal when muffled speech came from below her. She tried to listen in, however, she could not make out what they were saying. But she did pay attention when she could faintly make out someone saying her name in a raised voice. Lifting the covers, Fern moves her feet to the floor and stomps down to acknowledge her name being said. The clones become silent once again and Fern believes that they were just talking about her.
Why would they want to talk about you?
Because I'm the one letting them stay until they can get home.
Or they're just realising how pathetic you are. I mean really, did you think they wouldn't notice?
Stop it! That's not it!
Oh just accept it already, everyone you will ever care about will never return the feelings!
I SAID STOP IT!
Fern was pulled from her thoughts when a gentle knock came from the ladder door to her room. "Come in." She said as she quickly hid her journal back under her bed. Not a second after she sits back up, Fives pops his head out from under the door.
"So you are still awake. Thought I heard something." He chuckled softly, "We didn't wake you, did we?" Fern shook her head, "No, I wasn't asleep to begin with. I heard my name though, were you talking about me?" She asked, wanting something she could use against the voice in her head.
"Heh, sort of. Nothing bad of course." Fives reassured, making Fern smile slightly. "You should get some sleep though, it's getting late." Fern nodded, "Goodnight, then." Fives shared her smile briefly before returning to bed himself. Fern sighed, turned off her light and curled up in her covers.
======================================================
(Okay, as promised, some funny clone videos. None are mine. Some of these have spoilers for The Bad Batch.)
Who do you think won? I think Echo.
Yes, go save Crosshair!
Error Error Error
Stop hurting him! He's been through enough!
I agree with her. Crosshair is amazing and should be saved soon.
(Ok so if I have time, the next chapter shall be ready by the 30th. See you then.)
