Prologue

Irene's POV

          Being engaged to the man I love is truely amazing.  Never in my life did i ever think that I would be able to be this happy after my mother's death.  Chris and I may not be true mates but we've been together for 5 years.  We were high school sweet hearts.  Currently I'm 21 and he's 22 and we havent found out mates and the odds are that we never will so why not be together.

          I still remember when he proposed.  It was honestly a true surprise.  I never expected for him to ask me to marry him, with him being the Alpha of our pack. Oh yea did i mention that we are werewolfs?  Well incase i didn't well there you have it.

                                                                         ***Flash Back***

         "Do you remember when and where i first asked you out?" Chris asked me with a tender smile.

         His smile was very contagious because I couldn't help but smile back at him.  I really am lucky he asked me to be his girlfriend, and not because he is alpha to the Shadow's Pack, but because he's truly amazing not to mention how good looking he is.  His sparkling blue eyes captivate me every time i look into them.  His perfect pearly white teeth, brown hair and tanned skin just add to his good looks.

          Like I said, he's very atractive and I still don't know why he would ever ask me out, me the all time tomboy girl, but I'm glad he did.  As werewolfs we are naturally beautiful but he as alpha is even more so.  His body is so built I swear I drool when ever he's shirtless.  He has awesome abs with all the training he had to do before becoming alpha.  Even now that he's alpha he still works out and helps the younger wolfs train.

         "Yes I still remember where you asked me out for the first time and I also happen to remember how I turned you down." I told him teasingly.

          "Oh really did you know?" he asked smiling like a five year old.  "Because if I remember correctly... you were so desperate to go out with all of this, that you didn't even allow me to finish the question." he told me pointing his finger up and down his body.

          But you know what he was kind of right.  I was very excited not desperate but excited that i shouted out yes without him even finishing the question.

          "You ass I was not desperate.  Please I was anything but desperate.  Although I don't even know why I said yes after that joke you did to me.  It was so embarrassing" pouting I looked away.

          "Oh come on babe you have got to admit that was pretty funny" he said laughing. JERK.

          "Really Chris?  You told me you were just gonna invite me to the movies!  I felt so dumb after I shouted YES!!" I was beyond embarrassed when I shouted yes and just for that moron to prank me by telling me that he was just going to ask me if I wanted to go to the movies.  God that second was the most embarrasing of my life and trust me I've had many embarrassing moments in my life.

     I was beyond mad for what he did but he made up for it.  That day when he officially asked me out we were with our friends at the movies.  This one guy came up to me and gave me a rose.  I was so confused but just as i was about to ask why he gave it to me another two guys came and did the same.  I was so confused but when I turned around Chris surprised me by asking me if I wanted to be his girlfriend.  And I obviously said yes.

          "Aww I'm sorry.  But I made it up to you pretty good!" he tried to kiss me but I turned away.

          Smilling I told him "Yes you did made it up to me otherwise I would have never said yes!"
