I open my eyes to the sun-lit room my alarm is buzzing loudly in my ear. I rub my tired eyes and sit up. "Fuck what day is it?" I mumble to myself. I yawn and stretch before stepping off my bed and making my way across my semi-messy room. I stare at my calendar before realizing today was my first day at college
"OooH SHIT!" I shouted rushing to my closet searching for a quick and clean outfit. I pull on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt before looking for my shoes. "C'mon c'mon where are they!" As if hearing my command my shoes catch my eye sitting beside the door. I brush my teeth and do my hair before jumping down the stairs. Being 5'8 has its perks sometimes like being able to jump downstairs. But finding a decent pair of pants is a struggle.
I grab my bag and run out the door pulling out my phone. As I get in the car and get ready to go my mom calls. I connect my Bluetooth to the car and back out of the driveway. "(Y/N) don't tell me your late!" my mom says sarcastically. "Ok, I won't tell you then." I chuckle making my way to college "(Y/N). Do you think being in college means I can't act like your mother and come to school to embarrass you? I'll wear my old flower dress to look like a crazy grandma" I laugh making a turn. "I know you would. Don't worry ma I'm on making good time."I pull into the college campus and try and find a space to park. "I'm on the campus as we speak. I'll be fine" I park my car and speak into my phone. "I sure hope so. Don't go and start any fights or me and Jackie will be up there to get you." Jackie is my big brother. His name is Jackson but we call him Jackie. "I won't mom" I sigh looking for my class. "I actually gotta go. I need to find a seat." I say opening the door. "Okay. I love you and so does your dad." I roll my eyes "mom. We've been through this. He and I cut ties." I say putting my bag down next to me. My father wasn't a horrible person, but he wasn't a great father either. If I didn't cut ties he would still be blaming me for all his mistakes and throwing money at me to make it all better. I did what I had to in order to grow. "I know honey. But he he's trying. He wants things to work" I can hear the tears she holds back. " mom. He made his choices. The least he could've done was apologizing like a man." I say taking out my laptop. "I'm sorry hun." She sighs "Don't apologize for him, please. He's his own person. I really have to go through." I say feeling guilty. "Okay, hun bye," she says before hanging up. Mom's are weird.
