The Hidden Black Daughter

Chapter 5

The food appeared in front of Eridanus. She watched in amazement at the food appearing on the table. Eridanus saw the older students filling up their plates, so she took this as a sign to go ahead and fill up her plate of her with food.

When she was done she grab her fork and took a bite. It was the best food she has ever ate. She continued to eat in silence till she heard Draco ask her a question.

"So You're my cousin right, I mean my mother's name before she a Malfoy was Black" Draco asked her. Eridanus looked at Draco before sighing. Eridanus didn't want this to be their first conversation but she still answered. 

"Yes, I'm your cousin though I know we didn't have the greatest meeting in the world, I hope we can become close like siblings would" Eridanus responded with a smile on her face. Eridanus gather from his reaction to her on the train was he didn't have the greatest home or anyone one he was close with.

She hoped her and Draco would get along. She felt like she would probably need someone to talk to in years to come. Draco looked at her with a shocked face. When Draco was little he never had close friends or family. His parents would always tell him they are not friends or they only care about your money or his status. Draco smiled at her " I hope we can be".

Crabbe and Goyle looked shocked because they never saw Draco smile genuinely. "Hi, I'm Pansy Parkinson. We have met a few times at parties our parents threw" Pansy voiced to Draco. Pansy smiled at Draco while blushing. Eridanus eyes widened at this. "Pansy must like Draco" Eridanus thought.

Draco looked at Pansy with cold eyes " We have met a few times but I don't remember any time though". Eridanus could hear some of the older students laugh. Pansy face turn red " Well I didn't think you would remember me. I thought I would reintroduce myself since we would be in the same classes".

Eridanus tried to save Pansy from the embarrassment by introducing herself to everyone. "Well I'm Eridanus Black, Pansy I hope we can be great friend" Eridanus reintroduce herself to everyone at the table around her.

She could see Pansy turn less red and smile at her. "Well if we're going to be reintroducing ourselves, My names Daphne Greengrass. I also hope we can be great friends." Daphne chimed in.

"My names Theo nott. This is Blaise Zabini, we have been friends since we were babies because we live close to each other, I call him Zucchini though because as a kid I couldn't pronounce his name and pronounced his last name as that so it kinda of stuck." a dark hair boy introduced himself while pointing at a boy next to him who glared at him.

"It didn't stick, no one calls me that" Blaise hissed at Theo who was laughing. "I'm only joking, I would never call you Zucchini in front of you" Theo admitted. Everyone just laugh at the two. Eridanus could tell this was going to be a fun year with the two of them.

As dinner went on they shared what they did in their childhood before coming to Hogwarts. Eridanus quickly became best friends to Pansy and Daphne. Theo and Blaise would make jokes every time something was said that they could make a joke of.

The conversation turned to their parents. Eridanus of course didn't have parents but didn't want to ruin everyone mood with depressing things so she just stayed silent till Pansy asked her about her parents.

Eridanus didn't want to lie but didn't know how to answer so she just told some of the truth to her new friends. "Well I never knew my father or my mother they are dead" Eridanus revealed to them.

Pansy turned red once again "I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have ask, I just wanted to include you in the conversation. " Pansy looked up at her with tears in her eyes "Please forgive me, I'll tell everyone a embarrassing story of mine to make it even".

Draco glared at Pansy not liking her. Eridanus knew Pansy was sorry. "Hey, don't cry, it's ok. You guys would have found out sooner or later. You don't have to do that. Even if we never knew each other up till now I consider you one of my closest friends so wipe those tears off your face and smile" Eridanus insisted to Pansy.

"Ok Eridanus let's turn this mood from being depressing to happy. Did you survive Avada Kedavra?Because you're drop-dead gorgeous" joked Theo winking at Eridanus. Eridanus burst out laughing and joked back "Well if you liked me you could have just told me Theo and no I didn't I'm sure you can ask out Harry potter tomorrow since he did". Eridanus winked back at Theo who just looked shocked not expecting that comeback.

Dumbledore stood up introduced dessert and sat back down. The conversation continued the rest of the night with Theo and Eridanus playfully flirting with each other.

"Trying to still my best friend Eridanus" Blaise asked playfully knowing they were just joking. " Yep he my best friend now" Eridanus claimed. "What? Hey weren't Daphne and I your best friends a second ago" Pansy asked pouting playfully.

Eridanus could only laugh. She never thought being at Hogwarts was going to this fun. The dessert quickly disappeared and left the table clean. Dumbledore stood up to make the start of term speech. Eridanus could barely keep her eyes open when she felt someone shake her. She turned up to see Draco and everyone standing. " Dumbledore, ended dinner it's time to go to our common room " Draco said softly.

Eridanus quickly stand up and apologize to everyone for waiting for her. They followed the prefects and the rest of their house to the dungeons. Eridanus could feel the temperature dropping and getting colder but she didn't mind. The perfect walked up to a statue of a snake and called out "REMEMBER THE PASSWORD OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET INTO THE COMMON ROOM. OPHEODRYS IS THE PASSWORD FOR TWO WEEKS THEN IT WILL CHANGE. THE PASSWORD WILL BE POSTED ON THE BOARD IN THE COMMON ROOM SO MAKE SURE YOU CHECK IT EVERY TWO WEEKS". The wall that the snake was attached to move over to allowed them into the common room.

"Girls are on the left and Boys are on the right. Remember boys you are not allowed into the girls room, same with the girls, you are not allowed in the boys room. If I find out you are going into each other rooms there will be consequences. You will be sharing a room with everyone in your year. So make sure you get along. You will also be getting your schedules in the morning at breakfast so don't be late.That's is all for tonight, everyone up to your rooms" the perfect finally finished informing everyone. The girls quickly told the boys good bye and ran to see their room.

Pansy,Daphne and Eridanus seem to be sharing a room the other girls in their year seem to be in a different room. Eridanus saw all her saw at the bed by the window. She flopped on the bed and sighed in content.

"This has to be the best bed I ever laid on" Eridanus voiced came out mumbled because her face was in the covers. The girls just laughed at her. They quickly got ready for bed. Once they all were in bed and comfortable they quickly fell asleep ready for the next day.
