When I asked Father "Why we sent Alphas to the battlefield yet we knew that they were our valuable assets?" He explained the reason was because we have to make sure the Alphas survive the moon cycle. If they don't eat humans then they will be permanently become wolves. Our lineage will be over by then. We spread the news about Alpha to scare off humans but actually that was not true. Alphas were the most accountable heads of the herd werewolf who was still capable of securing their lineage.
Our problem with the transformation remained difficult and that because every pups and werewolf mates had to go through the cycle every month. If the pup or the mate succumbed to the transformation, that usually would end the family. Werewolves bond was as thick as blood. They would be devastated when they lost their family. They couldn't just get over it. It could go for eternity or until the end of their lives. So it is important to secure the Alphas and a whole pack to survive the moon cycle. That would keep them alive, keep the family alive. That was the reason why Father finally sent me to Anssil.
