A cool Autumn breeze blew past, as she lay there unbothered by everything and anything that was happening around her. She was contemplating on whether or not she should go to them, but decided it would be better if she just lay and wait for fate to decide. It was quite late, maybe around 11:45pm so they would probably be sleeping anyway, everyone else was asleep as far as she was concerned.
Hailee had just finished the school term and now she had a two weeks break to herself ( not likely) but her mind kept lingering on what she had been told just 3 months prior to right now.
*flashback*
"Hailee Clouds please"
She had jumped a little as her name was called. Her mother stood up, you mirroring her movements as she continued to follow the man who just called out for her.
*click*
The man closed the door as she and her mother took a seat at the desk, the man making his way to the other side before taking a sit himself.
"I'm sure you know why you're her today Hailee, you've been coming for 7 months now with the same problem but we've finally figured out what's wrong"
"Well, what is it?!"
Her mother, Catherine Cloud a 44 year old hard working woman with good pay at the council as a desk lady/receptionist. Very worriful and cautious when it comes to her children's health. She begged and begged for her daughter to be here today because she was so worried for her. Her daughter didn't like it when she did this. To her it felt too controlling.
They looked at her mother and Hailee before explaining what has been happening to her these past few months.
"Hailee, I'm afraid you have hanahaki""Huh?"
Her mother asked in a monotone voice, not knowing what it was the doctor was talking about.
"Its a disease mum, something that only happens to a person with one-sided love. I already knew what it was, I just didn't want you to worry."
Hailee looked down at her multi-coloured shoes she made yourself. It was raining that day, so she had gone to the dollar store with her best friend to get a cheap pair of white shoes and some paint and designed her own things on them. The next day she had shown up to school and walked around like she owned the place.
her mother just stared at her in disbelief, she felt as if she failed as a mother for not realising, what her daughter was going through.
"With this disease, you will start coughing up petals of the person you loves' favorite flower then as it gets worse, a flower will start to develop in the holders lungs slowly making them unable to breath, slowly leading them to death or you can have a surgery to get it removed but you will lose the feelings for the person you love and the ability to love all together. I'd just like to say that the decision is completely up to you ok Hailee?"
All she responded with was a small 'ok' and looked away.
"Thank you for everything today" and with that her and her mother walked out the door through the lobby and to the car. When they got to the car it was just silence.
The car ride home was painfully quiet and Hailee were dreading when she got home.
