I smiled as the cold yet not freezing wind brushed in my fair skin. I looked up at the sky and saw the darkness sky that made my eyes shine. Clouds seem to have a tragic day today because of its non-stop tears. A lightning suddenly came up as if it’s screaming out of anger, but instead of feeling scared and getting startle, I chuckled as I whispered that after this night... tomorrow will shine as if nothing happened yesterday.

Today

I rushed through to waiting shade since I forgot to bring an umbrella today, but i stopped when I can’t feel any rain drops in my head anymore. I looked up and saw a tall guy wearing a cute yet annoying smile with its umbrella.

“Are you dumb or what? Are you planning to be sick?” he asked.

I chuckled, “Maybe.”

He just rolled his eyes on me and holds my shoulder so that we can both share the umbrella. We went to the parking lot where his car was, and went in. Thankfully, I have this not-so-kind cousin. If not, I would probably in the hospital tomorrow.

“Bakit ka nga pala nandito?” I asked because his school is quite far from here.

“To drive you home, obviously.”

“Why, obviously.” I said back to him.

“May Family Dinner kaya.” Saad nito.

“So? Invited ka ba?” I asked as I chuckled.

“Do you want me to drag you out in my car and pretend that we didn’t meet today?” He sarcastically said.

Only a few minutes passed and we finally  reached our house. I saw them preparing for dinner, my smile get wider when I saw them complete today.

“Saktong sakto ang dating ninyo!” bungad ni mama at hinalikan ang magkabila kong pisngi bilang pagbati.

“Tingin ko pa lang masarap na ah, mukhang nagutom tuloy ako.” My cousin said, Ken.

Sabay sabay na kaming naupo at nagdasal bago nagsimulang kumain. It’s been a while since I had a dinner with them. I always got late home because of my school works and upcoming graduation.

“Of course luto ko yan eh.”

“The Day after Tomorrow.”

Tomorrow

“Rina! Mall raw tayo!”

Napalingon ako ng marinig ko ang pangalan ko sa sigaw na iyon. I saw Artemis, Luna and Mary from afar, they’ve been my friends for over 4 years now.

“Sure!” i answered when they got near me.

Inakbayan nila ako hanggang sa marating namin ang sasakyan ni Artemis. We planned to go to the mall and have a girl time for today, because we knew that after we graduated High School, we need to separate our ways because we’re going to a different universities. It’s sad but it’s okay, it’s life, we promised to stay in touch to each other.

We go shopping together, we eat together with a little chitchats, play arcades and went to our best spot, at the garden, the place where we all love. Today might be the best day, I know that Tomorrow will be the best among the best.

The day after tomorrow

“For our Magna Cum Laude in the batch of 2020-2021, Ansherina D. Gomez!”

My heart beat faster as I heard my name and went up to the stage. I can see people watching me from here, happy and being proud because I made it to be here after all circumstances and hard works i need to do. My smile even get wider when the medals are now in my neck and the certificates in my hands, I almost got tear up when mom and dad are in my both sides, smiling as the camera flashed in our face.

But something is wrong, something isn’t right. My smile faded, as the scenarios got changed. I smiled again, not a happy one. Tears come out in my eyes, but a happy one.

“You did great...” I whispered to myself. While the toga i should be wearing is now fading.

“You’re now Okay...” My parents beside me are walking away.

“You can now be Happy...” My friends in my side are now waving at me.

I finally finished it. The story I wanted in my Life. The scenarios I dreamt to be real. A life that I wished is true. I can now write The End of the story I wrote to escape the reality and make myself smile even just for a sec.

“You can now Rest...” I silently whispered and hold my pen tightly as I saw the blood splashed in my laptop in front of me.

Today is The day after tomorrow.

12:00nn.

My graduation.

But i made a twist in this day, I supposed to have a same ending as my story.

But I want this day to be a lot more realistic and unique for them to remember me...

As the rain poured do heavily tonight, silence filled my room, cold weather that made this night perfect, and darkness but a little bit of light from my open laptop... me alone, I did it.
