Damien's dark locks were pushed up into an unorganized mess as he sat by his large oak desk. Unlike the glamorous thought that Beta's did all the paperwork, Damien was signing away on a regular stack of papers. He was the Alpha of a very large pack and was in charge of maintaining the pack's land. That meant dealing with humans who did know about werewolves. Politicans, police, nurses, and at the moment he was dealing with a pesky farmer. In order to have the amount of land he did it required cooperation between these humans. Land for protection was how it usually went down.
Still Damien yearned to be outdoors. He could hear the happy yelps of pups and the joyus chatter of the adults. He knew he would be done in an hour, but by that point then the socialization would have dwindled down. He knew he was lonley, but it was his duty. His father was stern and had taught him that the pack came first.
An hour of tedious paperwork later, Damien was walking out the door. Of course he didn't make it far. Out in the front yard there was a dispute, a challenge for power commencing. Growls and snarls were let out as two grey wolves circled one another, each trying to intimidated the other. Damien realized quickly that this wasn't the common challenge and would require more of his attention.
Blake, his beta, was in a dispute with one of Damien's best pack warriors, Jack. Damien let out a warning growl to the two preoccupied wolves. He did not want any damage on these important men. For God's sake what could cause such animosity between such high powered wolves, he thought. Looking around he noticed a young blonde standing by.
She was in hysterics, and rightfully would be as the sister to the Beta. Ignoring the two wolves who were now swiping at each other, Damien decided to investigate before putting an end to the ridiculous quarrel.
Damien was 3 years her senior, and at the age of 16 years she didn't consider herself a child any longer. Her stawberry blonde locks had gotten stuck on her tear shaped face, which annoyed Damien.
"What is going on Marie?" He asked with a frustrated tone.
"He is my mate."
"Jack??"
"Yes and my brother doesn't think he is good enough for me and is now challenging him" she said through big wet tears.
Damien had enough. This behavior was normal for wolves, but they were both high ranking and he expected better for them. He walked towards the two dangerous wolves, admitting a growl of his won. When he reached the two, he picked them both up by the scruff of their necks, demonstrating his power and embarrassing both of them. They wimpered and immediately submitting.
Jack and Blake looked up at the powerful alpha male. He was intimidating, with dark locks and green eyes that shone, and reminded Blake of the late Alpha. His strong jaw clenched and he dropped the two wolves.
He believed they had learned their lesson, without words both understood his reprimand. Being picked up by the scruff like a pup in front of Marie was embarrassing enough, there was little need for verbal abuse.
Finally Damien was able to walk into his sanctuary, the woods. He quickly transformed into his wolf. Tall and muscular, he was a chocolate color with black points on his feet. He ran, his paws striking the mist ground, following any scent that pleased him.
