Your alarm read 7:35AM as the blinding rays of early morning sun awoke through your blinds. You wish you could stay and lay in your comfortable bed but you had recently got a side job at some wing place down the street. You needed the extra cash to pay off your debt. There was no way you could do only one.
You groaned and stretched your legs and arms, rising from your bed. Though your new job was boring, it was never as chaotic and loud as your night job as a bartender. The two environments were distinct and you'd much rather take pointless discourse over catcalls and harassment.
But, it wouldn't be so bad to have a few exciting moments over the course of your job, right?

You clocked in at your first job, 9:45. You greeted a few co-workers along the way, barely remembering their names, however you didn't care enough to remember. A red head with an annoying voice, another guy with a threatening but inviting aura. You heard a rumor of the redhead having multiple fake identities in the past but you never cared enough to ask the others of it.
You took your place at the cashier's position. Since this business was small, you and your coworkers often switched positions. Others could say you knew your way around the place.
Days often went like that. Having pointless small talk with the two guys who dance around the elephant in the room, getting yelled at by your boss who seemed to be around 5'1, and ignoring the flirtatious comments by older men. Nothing really happened and you'd prefer to keep it that way,
Until today.
Your head rested in your hands as you lightly picked at the skin near your thumb. Today was a little slower than usual, but you aren't complaining.
The bell above the entrance rang, signaling someone was entering. Still picking at your skin, you didn't look up at who it was. You're sure the 5'1 woman would scold you for not greeting the guests later.
The footsteps came in as just a singular person, until the bell rang once more and you were hit with a group of large and annoyingly loud men. Loud chatter suddenly filled the store.
"What's going on?" You heard one of your co-workers behind you as the groups of men seemed to grow bigger by the second.
Your other coworker smacked him upside the head and he groaned. "Can't you see, dumbass? Obviously there's a very pretty lady and a bunch of dogs behind her." He remarked and your eyes shot up at the mention of a 'pretty lady.'
You didn't even think to look at the person who led this herd of men. You were so concerned with the loud conversation and commotion that you forgot to look at the person who would soon be at your desk. Eyes traveling to the left, you were met with a young but strong looking woman. She walked in a way where you just couldn't take your eyes off of her and was very surprised to see the men behind her go about their day like it was nothing. The first distinct feature you noticed about her was the red eyepatch covering her left eye. Though it was none of your business, you wondered how and why she got it. You were surprised you even cared enough about it.
A voice behind you brought you out of your daze on the woman entering the store. For once you're grateful for the annoying red head's voice.
"Hey! What can we get you?" The guy said and you were finally close enough to take a good look at her. Before answering, she locked eyes with you and you're sure you felt your heart stop beating for a moment.
You quickly caught yourself staring and she smiled softly at you, fierce and red eyes piercing into dark and bored. You looked away and your eyes accidentally caught onto the packaged rack below her eyes, a deep blush forming on your cheeks. You decided to go back to the skin on your thumb and tried to clean the thoughts containing this pirate lady you just met.
