after three episodes, and the third season finally ending, kageyama shuts his laptop and places it next to him on the bed. y/n still hasn't said a word, but neither did kageyama. the female is confused as to why they just watched the show, without saying a word, and with kageyama being hurt by y/n her words.

"i really don't like you for hurting my feelings, you know?" kageyama starts, looking at the girl next to him. "but i also don't want to stop talking to you because for some reason, i looked out to the stupid text messages you send me during the day."

those words came like christmas to y/n.

"you like them?" she asks, eyes lit up. she can't believe her number neighbour really likes her text messages.

kageyama rolls his eyes at her words, crossing his arms. "don't get too cocky now because i still think you're annoying, too."

"i'll take it."

both of them chuckle slightly, y/n finally releasing the breath she didn't know she was holding. she feels somewhat relieved, now that they have talked and watched the show.

kageyama then sighs, "i'd normally be mad at people for way longer, but i somehow feel like i shouldn't be right now (# character development). even though i'm hurt, i don't want to stay mad and not talk. it felt weird to text you without your crackhead self and your stupid messages."

y/n laughs, "yeah... sorry, i acted the way i did because i was scared. it won't happen again, and i certainly won't lie to you ever again, kageyama-kun."

"tobio, it's tobio for you."

she smiles at his words and nods. "right, tobio-kun. i won't forget."

kageyama leans his head against the wall, closing his eyes. "i need to adjust to the fact that you're the one that has been texting me, though. it's going to be weird to know the person behind the screen. to have a face with the words they're saying, you know?"

y/n nods. "yeah, i understand."

it's silent for a while. both of them are just sitting there, not knowing what to say.

kageyama isn't like y/n predicted he would be. he's always so annoyed, so rude, just an asshole towards her. but now that he's here, right in front of her, he's a completely different person. and also different than what he is with all the guys around him. it's just like he's softer around the girl, for some odd reason she doesn't understand.

"thank you for forgiving me, by the way. i don't think i deserve it at all, but here you are giving me another chance. so thank you."

kageyama opens his eyes and leans back, looking at the girl. he nods at her words, "it's alright. my gut feeling that i never listen to told me to not be angry for that long, so i'm not."

the girl smiles. "i'm glad you're listening to it now, then."

"just this once, though."

the door bursts open and a shoyo hinata stands in the door opening, his eyes wide. tanaka is looking over him, placing his hand in front of his mouth.

"i told you!" hinata shouts, pointing at the two. "i told you they'd be in here!"

kageyama jumps up from the bed. "what the hell, tangerine? get the fuck out of here you idiot!"

the raven haired male runs towards the door, to which hinata turns around and runs away. "why am i the one you're going after?! tanaka was there too!"

"because you're an idiot and i don't like you! you always ruin things, asshole!"

kageyama starts running even faster, trying to kick hinata in the back for ruining his moment with his crush– friend. with his friend.

right, hehe. just your friend, tobio.

the female frowns and stands up, a small blush on her cheeks. "well, this is awkward. i think i should get going now."

tanaka chuckles and makes room for her, nodding. "alright, l/n-chan. don't try to get hit on the way back to the cafetaria, or wherever you're heading."

she nods, "i think i'll be fine."

and with that, she walks out of kageyama's shared room with the other karasuno players. tanaka watches her as she walks away, a small smile on his lips. even though he was a little jealous of kageyama that he could get a girl and not him, he doesn't feel that way anymore. this girl can be good for the stiff setter on their team, maybe even make him a little loose. nationals are coming up, and they need their setter at their best. and this girl might be a solution to that, too.

although he hopes kageyama won't be that distracted by the girl, otherwise they need to have a word together.

but tanaka is sure that won't be necessary.
