PRINCESS SANCHEZ WAS BETTER known as Sissy. She liked it better because it was less of a mouthful and it made her sound like a normal person. Princess didn't resent her name or her mother for naming her, but she just didn't understand why. As she grew, she asked her mother why she didn't name her something more ordinary. Her mother would always reply: "Princess, there is nothing ordinary about you."

Princess' whole life was just her and her mother, Shirley. After suffering two miscarriages, she had given up hope of getting pregnant again. But at the age of 22, she had gotten knocked up with Lawrence Sanchez's kid. He quickly purposed and the two were married two weeks later. They purchased a house in Shadyside a month after the marriage. Life seemed great, picture-perfect. That is until Lawrence passed away from unexpected cardiac arrest when Princess was a year and a half old.

Princess was used to just having her mother and she didn't mind it much either. Sometimes she imagined what it would be like to have a dad but she didn't need one. It seemed that Shirley was in no need to find her a pseudo father either. That's why when Shirley started to date Paul Goode, Princess felt no pressure to look at him as a father figure.

Even though she knew she didn't have to think of Paul as a dad or really even like him for that matter, she did. She grew closely attached to him and his two sons and they to her.

As the couple grew closer, the more time Princess spent in Sunnyvale. It was normal for her to spend the weekdays in Shadyside and the weekends in Sunnyvale or to fall asleep on the Goode's couch on a Wednesday night and wake up in the car on the way home. She felt torn like she was living a double life. For the most part, both cities hated each other for no other reason than they were different. Princess was so submerged in both places that they both loved her and her mother. It was something she never thought would happen.

Things were made even weirder when attending Camp Nightwing in the summers. She was technically a Shadysider but almost every Sunnyvaler liked her too. That made the color wars every year a little bit more difficult. She was stuck as the middle man, making friends with people who hated her other friends. She was constantly stuck in conversations complaining about the other side and hearing half-hearted apologies followed right after. Life was weird toeing the line but it was all she could do.

On top of the confusing feelings about where she belonged in the world, she also started to have confusing feelings about her best friend, Ziggy Berman.

By the time Princess was 13, she was convinced that she was in love with the fiery redhead that lived down the block. And at 14 she had finally decided to put caution to the wind and kissed Ziggy. For a moment she had thought she had messed up the best thing that had ever happened to her until Ziggy kissed back.

The next year was pure bliss. She had a great girlfriend and a good almost stepfamily. But then shortly after Princess turned 15, Paul purposed to her mother and they moved to Sunnyvale.

Princess officially became a Goode and a Sunnyvaler. With the new move, Shirley swore never to return to Shadyside. It was full of the memories of Lawrence and his unfortunate passing, heartbreak, and loss. With Shirley no longer wanting to be associated with Shadyside, Princess felt forced to end things with Ziggy.

She felt her heartbreak when she kissed Ziggy for the last time. She thought she would never be able to love again, despite the fact that she was so young. Then she met Shelia Wood and her feelings started to change.

It was a true Rosaline/Romeo/Juliet moment. It might have been the heartbreak of losing Ziggy that thrusted her into Shelia or it could have just been teenage hormones.

Shelia was an enigma. From the outside, she seemed like such a bitch. She would open up to her friends, but even then she had walls in place. She wouldn't let anyone see the real, vulnerable her. No one except for Princess.
