There was suddenly a harsh knock on the door, causing the dark purple haired female who was sleeping in bed to jump awake. She gradually sat up in her bed while rubbing her eyes and yawning. She thought a bad dream had woken her up, though the bad dream was about to become her reality.

"Coming...!" She exclaims, as the knocking had not stopped yet. The mint eyed female puts on her slippers and rushes to the door of her room, unlocking it. Swiftly, a tall man in his mid twenties came rushing in as if he had no time to lose. "Ignitus...? What is the meaning of this? Do you realise how early in the morning it is?" She questions him with a confused look while shutting the door behind him. She glances at her clock on the wall noticing it was four o'clock in the morning and she was suppose to have training in a few hours time.

"None of that matters Cynder, we have very little time before things go from bad to worse." He speaks in a serious tone, "what I discussed with you earlier, I am afraid everything is starting to unravel. The King is dead."

"Huh...? What do you mean he's dead?" She slowly replies, still letting the information sink in. Though then stops for a moment to look at Ignitus properly, seeing that he looked in a condition as if he had just been in a fight. "You're hurt... Ignitus what is going on-" Before being able to finish her sentence there was a loud bang coming from the other side of the castle.

"Malefor is lost into the darkness, with losing his soon-to-be wife because of the order from his twin and the jealously towards his nephew on being the next in line for the throne... He has lost his way." The Fire Element Dragon explains, trying to keep it short as while they were talking, Malefor's men were already taking over the castle, killing those who did not comply. "Richard is gone, along with all the rest of the family." Cynder's eyes widen slightly in disbelief, not wanting to accept the tragic news.

"Wait... Spyro?" She almost dared not to ask the question.

"He is still alive, he was not in his room when the guards went to kill him in his sleep. Thank the Gods, I do believe he has been out all night with his brother. I am not sure if he is back, but, we must talk about another matter." The red haired male said in a serious tone, pulling out a dagger and handing it to Cynder. "Now, I am going to ask something from you that you may not agree with. But it must happen. Nobody can match Malefor's power, not even I. The only one who can do that is Spyro, though as we both know he has to yet to unlock all his powers. I need you to stab this dagger into his heart, it will send him to sleep essentially as there is a curse on it."

"The curse of the gems... I can't do that, to betray his trust like that-"

"Child, there is no other choice. Do you not understand? Either way the light guardians are going to be wiped out, I cannot bare to see you or him in the same fate." The Fire Elemental Dragon snaps, "you must pledge your allegiance to Malefor by doing this to Spyro, only then will he have no suspicious of you and your true identity. I am aware this is a lot of information at once Cynder; but we are running out of options here. This must be done."

"You want me to stab Spyro with a cursed dagger and join sides with Malefor...?" Cynder repeats slowly, looking down at the dagger.

"Yes, the curse will not kill him. Only put him to sleep; it gives you time to figure out your next move. It would be more ideal for you the shatter the eight gems into shards, to make it look more realistic." Ignites instructs the female, though Cynder notices his left hand was fully turned to stone. "Luke can be a nasty piece of work; like I said. We do not have much time left." He answers her question before she even has the chance to ask it.

"What would you like me to do in the meantime?"

"I need you to rescue as many civilians undetected as possible, until Spyro shows up. Take them outside the portal to the Lost City." He instructs her as Cynder slowly nods. "I will try my best to fight off Malefor until then, but this will be our goodbye for a while." Just as he finishes the sentence Cynder goes into to hug Ignitus, overwhelmed by the whole situation as the male glances down at her and hugs her back. "I really do apologise for putting you in this situation, but it's the only way for us to ever throw Malefor off the throne. You understand this right?"

"Of course..." She says in a quiet, pulling away and placing the dagger on the bed. "Put Spyro to sleep, fool Malefor, figure out how to re awake Spyro, train him up with the rest of his powers and let him kick his uncles ass. That about right?"

"Perfect, I must get going. I left Terrifor, Cyril and Volteer in the throne room fighting off the other elemental dragons and Malefor. Goodbye Cynder, until we meet again." Ignitus says before leaving the room.

"... Everything is really going to change, why now of all times Malefor did you decide to take over the castle...?" The dark purple haired female changed into some actual clothes now, instead of her pjs. Then swiftly headed out of the room to go start her first task, saving as many civilians as possible while the Dark Elemental Dragons and Malefor were distracted.

Meanwhile, coming over the hill outside of the city and in the countryside, Spyro and Sparx were on their way back from Sparx's parents in the swamp,
"I really do forget sometimes how lovely Heidi's cooking is." Spyro chuckles, with his stomach all full up as he rests his hands behind his head. Sparx was sat down on his brothers shoulder, since he was tired of flying.

"She really does, though I wish dads jokes would be better." The dragonfly replies,
"I swear they get more awful everytime we go and visit."

"Come now; that's no way to speak about Douglas. I thought they were pretty good."

"There's no need to pity him-... Huh, is that fire?" Sparx points in the distance towards the city of dragons, where smoke is going up into the sky. Spyro looks forward now, as his eyes widen slightly.

"It's coming directly from the castle!" The purple haired male spoke in a worried tone, Spyro suddenly transformed into his dragon form then glances at Sparx. "Hold on." He warned his brother as Sparx held onto Spyro, the purple dragon ran off the edge of the hill, then proceeded to fly towards the smoke and fire that was coming from both the royal castle and the buildings surrounding it.
