January 21, 2053 – Madison, Wisconsin

Collin stood with his back against the light post and the iciness of late July, early September air nipping at any exposed skin. He wasn’t built for Wisconsin weather; he was truly a born and raised Californian, where there were sunny skies and waves to be ridden all year round.

Sliding down the frost-bitten metal, he sat on the ground. He had paid for this meeting, how hard is it for a guy to leave the house, Collin thought to himself in exasperation. He leaned his head back and looked over to his left side, he could barely make it out, but what he thought he saw made him stand back up and straighten his back straighter than before. When it entered the circle of light that surrounded Collin, he gasped and said, “Hi, sorry for my loss of words, but from your description, I didn’t assume that you were a girl.”

She chuckled and said, “It’s okay a lot of people say that, and after all most of the stuff that I do is normally considered to be under the male category nowadays.” She cast a sidelong glance at Collin and continued, “and from your description in the paper I considered you to be a little bit more…. Umm I don’t know, different?"

Collin stuffed his hands in his pockets, shuffled his feet and said, “Yea I get that a lot too, honestly I really don’t care that much.”

“Humph, right that’s why you put your hands in your pockets and then shuffled your feet before you said anything. The body has different ways of showing emotion, even though your voice doesn’t. Anyway,” she said, and then pulled out a clipboard out of nowhere and finished, “Your name is Collin and you didn’t write down as to why you wanted to see me. Mind telling me now that we’re here in person?”

He chose that exact moment to pull his hands out of his pockets and blew on them, “Yes, I actually do.” When he said that, three unrealistic men jumped out from the shrubs, they were buff and definitely taller than seven feet, and grabbed the girl. “By the way I don’t think that I really got your name, do you mind telling me or do you want me to wait until we’re at our destination?”

She didn’t answer just stared at him open mouthed and started struggling back, although she must have realized at some point that it was hopeless because she just screamed with annoyance and said, “Do you mind letting my feet down, I can walk you know.”

Collin sighed and shook his head and answered, “You know the rules, Ashley, considering that you’ve been in and out of jail several times in the past ten years alone.”

“Two things, one: how did you know my name, and two: how did you find me?”

“Police records for the first and for the second, I don’t particularly feel like telling you.”

One of the men chooses that moment to but in and ask, “What do you want us to do with her now boss, throw her in the lake or in the trunk.” He yanked her arm, earning himself a small yelp of surprise and pain.

“No Victor, neither, just throw her in the original place.” He snapped his fingers and a black shinny limo pulled up beside them and parked on the curb.

With that Victor and the others threw her in the back of the limo.
