Chapter 8

"Chaeng! Wake up!" Jisoo whispered into Chaeyoung's ear. She was laid down beside Jisoo on her bed in a deep sleep, but Jisoo's remarks woke her up with a groan.\

"What?"

"Wake up!"

"Ugh Fine!" Chaeyoung said as she groggily lifted herself up from the pillow. "What's the time?" she asked as she rubbed her eyes.

"It's only seven, at the farm you get up way earlier than this so I don't understand why you are so sleepy" Jisoo said.

"Well at the farm we don't stay up all night spying on a witch trying to conquer the kingdom"

The attitude that came with that sentence really shocked Jisoo and Chaeyoung noticed this.

"I'm sorry, I'm just not a morning person"

"It's ok. Now never mind that, you must get ready now for breakfast."

"Breakfast?"

"yes, we are having breakfast with my sister"

"THE QUEEN?! WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SO EARLIER?!" Chaeyoung practically screamed as she dashed towards the bathroom.

After they both got ready they were walking towards the dining room. "So I have a plan" Jisoo said discretely.

"Are you wearing the jewel?"

"yes"

"good. Now tell me the plan"

"We are going to have to observe them for some time, see if there's anything else they are planning"

"Ok, how will we do that?"

"Just be friendly. And polite. And gullible"

"That's a lot of things"

"It is necessary; we must have them believe that we are harmless so that they can let their guard down"

"Jisoo! Rosé! You're here!" they heard Irene say as they entered the dining hall. On the table were loads of dishes laid out, from pancakes to eggs and all kinds of meat and breads. Chaeyoung felt like she was in heaven. Jisoo noticed how this could be a big distraction for Chaeyoung and whispered in her ear, "you need to control yourself now. We have to focus"

Chaeyoung closed her already wide open and almost drooling mouth and nodded. Now was not the time to be hungry.

Jisoo sat down right at the end of the table which was opposite Irene who was seated at the head of the table. Chaeyoung decided to sit beside Jisoo.

As they sat multiple servants entered the room and placed napkins on their lap. On the table in front of them, they placed multiple plates and spoons. Jisoo was not fazed by this as this was the life she was exposed to ever since she was a child. But Chaeyoung was a whole new story.

"Why are there three different spoons?!" she whispered just for Jisoo to hear. Jisoo realized that having Chaeng blend into the royal surroundings was going to be harder than expected.

"Just follow my lead and do what I do" Jisoo replied, picking up the folk and knife on her far right. Chaeyoung mimicked her actions.

"Oh I hope you don't mind but it won't just be us having breakfast today" Irene spoke up catching Jisoo's attention. Right at that moment multiple footsteps were heard.
