“Where is the Mechanical Engineering Department?” A girl with blue rimmed spectacles spoke out nervously to a boy.
“Madam Home Science department is on the top floor spoke another boy from behind.
“But I am not a Home Science student, I am a mechanical engineering student” a girl with blue rimmed spectacles replied meekly.
“She thinks Science of Home as engineering. Madam go right from here then take the staircase to third floor!” A boy from the herd of bullies commented with a smirk on his face while his companions laughed hard mocking the girl standing with confused expressions on her face.
“Mister Engineer, the World is useless without Home Science. You got food because your mother knew the Science of Home. She not only cooked food for you, but also gave birth to you. Don't undermine women, we too are capable of pursuing dreams. We men can be a top-notch chef, women too can pursue mechanical engineering!” A confident female voice echoed in the corridor.
The boys and girl with blue spectacles turned around to see another girl standing behind them. Her beautiful sparkly light-brown eyes reflecting rage and courage in them. She wore an elegant Indian Kurti (shirt) with a pair of blue jeans and beautiful naagra/juttis (hand made leather footwear for women).
The boys didn't have any reply to this girl. They simply looked at her with widen eyes witnessing their egos getting crushed by a woman.
“Let's go to the hostel and search our respective rooms,” the girl with spectacles spoke out, and then she dragged this girl who was still boldly staring at the boys.
“We both are in the same room! I am Kaustuki Sherpa. What's your name ?”now happily, chirped the girl with blue rimmed glasses.
“Hello, Kaustuki and I am Sanyukta Aggarwal. I think we will have a great journey together,” replied the girl who saved Kaustuki from bullies a few minutes ago.
Founders Institute of Technology and Engineering(F.I.T.E) has witnessed thousands of students taking admission. Mostly are boys who join Mechanical Engineering. If any girl dared to be a student in the mechanical engineering department, then stereotypical boys bully them to no end, leading to exit of female creatures from mechanical engineering.
But today Sanyukta Aggarwal has raised her voice firmly against this sick stereotypical mentality that women are only capable of pursuing Home Science or Arts, and they are not talented enough to be an engineer/doctor, scientist or entrepreneur.
Human beings dislike changes because it puts them in discomfort. F.I.T.E has started to witness changes as Sanyukta has arrived. Changes either cause construction or destruction. Now it will be interesting to watch whether the changes occurring in F.I.T.E will be in the form of Construction or destruction.
