Missing

CHAPTER 2

The next morning, after breakfast, I walk to school with Dave. Compared to the other places we've lived in, our house here is much nearer to the school, so there's no need for buses or car rides to go there. Mum has to drive Pauline to school since she's still in elementary school and the school is much further from home. We walk together through some parks, memorizing each step so we'd know the way back.
   After a few minutes of walking, Dave decided to break the silence. "You ready for the first day of school?" He said, trying to sound excited. "We've done this a hundred times, what is there to be excited about?" I said. "But it's your first year in high school! There has to be something exciting about that." "Right, Freshman year... didn't sound so exciting when you told me about it 2 years ago." "Come on, it's not that bad... Who knows, Maybe you'll find your significant other." He said with a playful grin. "Yeah, and leave him in just a couple of months? No thanks."
   We continue walking for a few minutes before arriving at the school. "Here we are, Memorial High." Dave said. The school is very big, and the students arriving and getting off busses crowded the entrance. It took me a while to get through the crowd and when I did, Dave was already gone. I looked down at my schedule - 1st period : history -
   I made my way through the halls following the signs until I reached a sign that says "History Class". I peeked in the classroom and everyone was already there. Late on the first day of school, great... I knocked on the door and went in.
   "Sorry I'm late," I said when everyone was staring at me. "Take a seat. Now that everyone is here, let's get things straight in this class. Rule number 1, never be late!" the teacher says, looking at me. I have a feeling that this is going to be a long day...
