What woke me up was the roar of the Hulk. His thunderous call brought me back with a start and I gasped, giving my eyes a second to readjust to the light. I sat up awkwardly, hands still tied to the pole. To my left was Loki. Obviously he was in pain from the Hulk smashing his body into the floor.
I needed a knife, a blade, something to cut the rope, and to my luck, there was an entire knife block sitting on the counter. Using my foot, I reach up and push the block onto the floor, it's knives spilling out. I bring one close enough to grab with my hands and saw away at the rope until it breaks, then I make a beeline for Loki.
"Well, not so high and mighty now are we." I smirk, stomping my foot into his gut. "That's for tricking me."
Walking outside, all I saw was chaos. Chitahuri were everywhere, leviathans circled the skies, smashing into anything they could reach. Iron Man whizzed past, shooting down ships and I grinned. He stopped and zoomed closer, landing on the roof I was on and lifting his helmet.
"I have eyes on the kid, she looks fine." He flicks something at me and I catch it. An earpiece. Pushing it into my ear, I turn it on.
"Alright Kid, how do we win this thing? We do win, right?" Iron Man flew off at the threat of another flying fighter. Looks like they finally believed me.
"Yes. We need to use Loki's staff to break the shield around the tesseract to stop the portal."
"Right, so where is Loki's staff exactly?" My eyes fell down to the ground, around 3 meters ahead of me where it sat.
"I've got it here with me."
"Get it to Romanoff on the roof." I ran forward, gripping my fingers around the metal and looking up.
A Chitahuri soldier dropped off it's ships and landed in front of me, roaring in it's high pitch squeal of a voice. They ran forward and I hit them with the scepter, trying to throw them off. But I wasn't exactly strong and the scepter was very heavy. It was easy for the Chitauri to knock we onto my back and jump on top of me, attempting to bite my face off while I held them off with the scepter. I had nowhere to go. I couldn't hold it off forever and I wasn't about to be let go anytime soon.
"Guys I need help!"
"Who's got the kid?" I heard Steve ask through the coms.
"I do." Nat's voice said. I heard gunshots before the Chitauri soldier collapsed on my chest and I grunted as I heaved it off, looking up at Nat who saluted off the side of the roof.
"Thanks." I managed to breathe out, suddenly feeling utterly exhausted.
How was I going to get it up there? I walked inside to the elevator, but Loki stood in my path.
"Oh I don't think so. You're going to hand that over my dear." He holds his hand out expectantly and I tense myself, ready to fight if I need to. Of course I have absolutely no idea how.
Loki advances on me and I swing the staff at him with little strength and he catches it easily, reaching under and kicking me in the stomach, throwing me across the room. I slid across the linoleum and coughed from the impact.
"You are but a mere mortal. How could you have hoped to get past me?" He walks away and I lunge at him, jumping onto his back and pulling the staff around his neck. Unfortunately it doesn't work and he throws me over his shoulders and I land on my back. But I'm not giving up. I can't. If Loki succeeds then I'll die anyway.
I weakly stand to my feet, breathing heavily.
"What are you going to do now? Throw more weak punches? You are no match for me my dear. I am a god." Oh good, he's monologuing. "And I am burdened with glorious-" I run forward, throwing my leg out to connect with his groin and he stops, toppling over and dropping the scepter to clutch where I kicked.
