I found myself outside Laila's door knocking quietly at first, no response, so I knocked louder repeatedly until the door swung open to very annoyed Laila until she looked at me and her face softened.

"What's up doll?"

"Fancy an adventure?"

She eyed me quizzically.

"We are still on an adventure Cal"

"Yeah this one is slowly losing its appeal"

"Aren't you supposed to stay in your room" She mimicked in her best Ryker voice.

I laughed a loud roar of laughter that came from the pit of my stomach.

"You heard that?"

"Babe I think the whole house heard it, what's going on?"

"I don't know, I need to get out, clear my head, take a walk with my bestest friend in the whole wide world do you know where I can find her?" I teased with a glint in my eye.

"Oh I don't think that's a good idea"

She completely threw me off Laila was the risk taker and I was the sensible one, had we reversed roles, it made no sense, unless she was scared but that made no sense either because she didn't scare easily but I guess she recognised the dangers we were more than I.

"Ten minutes I promise, they will never know we have gone"

"I don't know Phoenix said it's dangerous out there especially at night"

I scoffed, of course that's what he told her.

"Do you not think he was just trying to scare you?"

"Then maybe we should find out for ourselves, test the theory so to speak"

"Okay who are you and what have you done with Caliana"

"Very funny"

"I'm not joking, what's gotten into you?"

"I just need to go out, feel the breeze on my face, get some clarity, I feel stifled stuck indoors all the time, plus I'm dying to see our surroundings, you know just in case we need  a quick get away" I winked in her direction.

"Please Laila"

"I don't know Cal"

"Come on please for me"

"It will only be ten minutes?" She quizzed me.

"Cross my heart" I made movements over my heart.

"Okay"

"Okay as in yes you'll do it"

"Yes now come on before ted bundy gets back and learns that you broke yet another rule.

We raced down the stairs eager to make our escape, we reached the front door and turned the knob but it wouldn't budge.

"Psycho locked us in!" I fumed out loud.

Just then we heard voices, but hadn't they left? They couldn't be back already surely, I grabbed Laila's hand and dragged he to the side behind a wall.

"What are you doing?" She whispered.

"Enjoying the view, what do you think I'm doing, hiding of course"

"Cal we should just abort"

"What?"

"Abort mission"

"No"

I grabbed her hand once more and zig zagged her through the kitchen, peering out of the door to make sure the coast was clear, I heard the doors upstairs close, whoever was lurking was not here anymore it was now or never, I quickly dashed to the end of the house dragging Laila behind me, I reached the door to back of the house, flung it open and a whoosh of air hit my face instantly, freedom at last!
