(Four weeks ago)
It happened again last night, the sharp pains all over my body, the strange craving for meat. My parents weird behavior confused me, usually when I eat this much meat at one time they would tell me off, but they haven't. The look in their eyes almost screamed "hey, I know something you don't". To be honest, it kinda scared me.
-Time skip- present morning
"Happy 16th Birthday, Jinxe", my mother said. Apparently she made me a 'special' breakfast. When I went downstairs I saw this special breakfast she was talking about. Toast. Its not special but I like toast so it was okay with me.
"I'm sorry Jinxe, but one of my, uh, co-workers got sick again. I have to go in for him. I know you don't like to be alone especially on your birthday, so you can invite your friends over." "Okay"
This happens every year, every fucking year she gets called away to business. I went to get my phone off the charger, so I could call Paula.
Paula answered on the third ring "Hello"
"Hey Paula I was wondering if you could come over today."
"Sorry Jinxe, I would but I can't I have, uh, family business to attend to."
"Oh, ok." Then she hung up.

Earlier this morning
Yay, today's my 16th birthday I've been looking forward to this my whole life. I wonder how Jinxe is doing this morning, I also wanted to tell her Happy Birthday.
When I grabbed the phone I felt a sharp pain all over my body, again. This has happened to me so many times in the past four weeks that I have gotten used to ignoring it. When I was in the middle of texting Jinxe, I fell unconcious.
I woke up encased by darkness.
'Hello' 'Hi Paula how are you today, oh by the way Happy Birthday.'
'Who are you?' 'I'm your wolf half. Do you have a name for me?'
'I'm gonna name you after one of my favorite cars, Spyder, thats your new name.'
'Spyder, I like it.' 'Wait a minute did you just say my wolf half, I'm a wolf?' 'Yes, I think you should take control of your body now your mother is over-excited.'
"Mom I think you should calm down and explain what the fuck just happened.''
"Well, we're wolves."
"How many people around here are like us?"
"Well actually this whole neighborhood is, and its our pack." my mother said matter-of-factly. "Why didn't you tell me before?"
"Because our pack has one belief, and that belief is that our children find out when they first change."
"I have to tell Jinxe, or she w-" "NO! Paula what did I just tell you about our packs belief."
I went to my room and as soon as I plopped down on my bed I received a phone call. When I looked to see who it was I saw it was Jinxe.
"Hello" "Hey Paula I was wondering if you could come over today."
"I'm sorry Jinxe, I would but I can't, I have, uh, family business to attend to." "Oh, ok."
I hung up before I could say anything stupid.
'Hey Spyder, when is Jinxe gonna change?'
'She's actually changing right now as we speak.'
