Corpse stared at me, trying to read me, and lifted his head slightly.
"Who hurt you?" He asked. He was very straight to the point, I noticed that. And also good at reading me, which I hated.
"What?" I looked up at him.
"I said, who hurt you. There's no way someone as pretty as you could be so oblivious to the truth..unless someone made you think that way." He placed his hands on the bed on either side of me. I swallowed thickly.
"My ex. He was...not the best. That's why he's an ex." I said.
"He's a stupid son of a bitch is what he is. If he didn't treat you well, then he won't treat anyone else well either. So don't think it's your fault. You're perfect, don't think otherwise." He rolled his jaw and scoffed. He got up and started walking down the hallway. I sat there for a minute processing what he just said. Is he serious? He won't let me believe he's a bad guy...he is like purposely reiterating the same compliments in my head over and over. If he doesn't stop, god I might fall for him. I stood up slowly and started walking. I had taken the medicine Corpse gave me, trusting he's not drugging me. I laughed at the thought. I found him in the living room with Salem. He had brought Salem over I'm guessing when I blacked out.
"You really shouldn't be walking around..." he reminded.
"I'm okay corpse, I promise. I think I'm just sleep deprived or dehydrated. Maybe both." I laughed and sat down by him. I couldn't stop thinking about how he reacted. Does that mean he's jealous? Or protective maybe?
"I was going to go out. You can come if you're feeling up to it." He looked at me. I nodded excitedly and he laughed at that.
"I just have to get ready...is that okay?" I asked.
"You look fine." He said.
"But I-"
"I'm serious. It's nothing extreme, I'm just gonna get something done."
"Okay well let me go grab my shoes and change."
"Fine fine, go ahead. Can the cat stay?" He asked.
"Yes." I laughed and headed to my apartment. I changed into a casual outfit and just straightened my hair slightly. I grabbed a mask..thinking maybe corpse would feel more comfortable if I did it too. I went back and opened corpse's door.
"Corpse I was thinking, would it be better if I-" I looked up at the sight unfolding in front of me."Corpse." I said.
"Yes?" He replied, not looking up.
"Did you break my fucking cat." I went to take a picture. Not with his face in it, of course.
"No. I'm just very good with cats." He booped Salem. He BOOPED Salem. Salem never lets anyone boop him. Not even ME. I've tried and failed every-time.
"Wh...did you just BOOP him?" I blinked twice.
"Yes. Yes I did." He laughed and place the cat down.
"Let's go." He walked passed me and waited for me to exit as well so he could lock the door. I was still stunned. He booped my devil spawn.
"What's with the mask?" He locked the door and we headed downstairs to his car, I'm guessing.
"Oh! I was gonna ask if you felt more comfortable if I wore one too. I mean COVID and everything, wouldn't make it that weird." I smiled and got in on the passengers side. He had a really nice car. Was nothing too glamorous or attention grabbing, but it was tasteful and emo like him.
"Nah, leave it off." He said. Shit he's right. What if I'm making him uncomfortable by doing this. Ahhh (Y/N), you're probably making him feel weird about himself now.
"I like to see your pretty face. Calms me down." He said and started driving. I looked at him, wondering if I had heard correctly. He payed no attention to my fangirling and kept his eyes on the road. God he was pretty. If the 25% of his face that I couldn't see was anything like the part I could, lord help us all. We stayed silent for most of the drive and I still had no idea where we were going.
"Are you feeling alright?" Corpse asked.
"Yes...I am, thank you." I smiled. Comforting silence was about to creep back in, but I broke it.
"Can I play some music?" I said. I know it's rude to ask other people that if it's not your car, but I needed to do something. He let me and I paired my phone to his car. I instantly played my favorite. It started...
"ChOkE mE Like yoU hAte mE But you Love-" I WAS SINGING ALONG AND HE TURNED IT ALL THE WAY DOWN.
"HEY!" I turned it back up and he sighed.
"Anything but that one." He stated
"Fine fine." I huffed.
"Do White Tee." He blinked.
"White Tee? Is that a new one?"
"Yes."
"Oh my god...is that...THE TSHIRT I SPILLED WINE ALL OVER?!" I was shocked. Did this man really just write a song over an incident involving an alcoholic beverage spilled on his T-Shirt? I played it and instantly was amazed. He was very talented at making simple statements into very catchy songs. It ended and I was still amazed.
"Did you like it?" He chuckled slightly as he adjusted himself in his seat.
"Yes. I loved it. That's really cool that you made a whole ass song out of my fuck up. You're really talented." I said. He looked over at, eyeing me. I began to get nervous and touched my face.
"Is there something on my face?"
"No." He drove with his left hand on the wheel and his other arm against the console. I admired his hands like a weirdo and took note of all his rings and what was actually on them. I think I stared too long because he noticed and placed his hand on my thigh. I jumped at the sudden contact and my breath hitched. His hands were cold but welcoming, as they paired with the heat from my thighs well. I blushed, I didn't know what to do.
"Is this what you wanted?" He said as he pulled into a parking lot.
"N-no! I'm so sorry I didn't mean to stare! I was just looking at your rings and..." I trailed off. He chuckled and removed his hand.
"I'm just messing with you. You're cute when you're flustered." He said as he got out of the car.
"This guy..." I mumbled under my breath and got out. I looked at the building we had arrived at.
"Is this a.."
"Arcade? Yes." He finished my sentence.
"Why did we come to an arcade?" I laughed and caught up with him.
"I have important business to attend to." He replied. That important business was trying to win a stuffed cat in the claw machine. I giggled at every time he tried to win the plush, but failed.
"What's so funny? Are you any better?" He said.
"Yes. As a matter of fact, I am. Step aside foil." He let me in his place and I aligned the claw with the toy.
"Hey foil, can you look on the side and tell me if they're aligned?" I asked. No reply.
"Foil? Foil, my time is gonna run out and I need-" I felt the heat and pressure of someone's body pressed against mine from behind. I gasped and looked up to see corpse. I was kind of relieved actually. And to be honest, I was hoping it was him. He placed his hands on top of mine and slightly moved the claw to the left. He stared down at me and leaned down slightly as he pressed the button on the game. He was so close now. His face was not even two inches away from mine when he stood back up, retrieving with a stuffed cat in his hands. THAT MOTHERFUCKER. He started walking away to another game. Oh, he's good. He knows what he is doing and it sure as hell is working. I followed after him and punched him in the arm. He chuckled and asked what he did wrong. We played a few more games, having a great time, until Corpse suggested LASER TAG.
"Laser Tag?" I asked.
"Laser Tag."
"Okaaay, but just warning you, I've played a lot of COD recently. I'm pretty much a professional." I scoffed in sarcasm and he blinked at me, not giving two shits. He walked away into the Laser Tag room, signing us up for the next round. Time had passed and the nice teen working the Laser Tag asked us if we were okay doing a round with just us. I did the talking, of course, and said it was perfectly fine. We got on our little vests with the guns attached and headed inside to start the game. It was dark with lots of neon colored obstacles to compliment the scenery. Fog soon filled the room and Corpse and I were waiting for it to start. Corpse didn't seem like the running type, so I let him get a head start to hide. He was going down and I was gonna make sure of it. It started off good mostly because I'd spot corpse before he spotted me, so I was winning. It was looking great until Corpse caught up and started to pass me up in kills. I caught back up to him and eventually we were down to the same score. I grunted in disbelief. He barely even tried yet still succeeded. I searched for him everywhere and couldn't find him and this damn fog was getting to me. The voice from the speaker announced less than 2 minutes left for this round and I started to get antsy. I was about to make my way to the door when a sudden force pushed my in between two props. I gasped and held my gun to my chest. Corpse's foggy silhouette loomed over me. My heart was facing and I'm pretty sure you could tell just by looking at my face. I stared at him eagerly.
"Corpse?-" I was cut off. I was cut off by what seemed like...oh. Oh? OH?! He kissed me. My eyes fluttered shut as I kissed him back, holding his cheek and the back of his neck. We kissed for a while before we had to breathe. He placed a hand on my waist and pulled away, pulling his mask up back over his face after he caught his breath. Corpse then shot me and walked away, leaving me as the loser.1809 Words
