I watch Ellie like a hawk, trying to gouge her reaction. So far, she isn't moving at all. If I didn't see her chest moving, I'd be afraid she stopped breathing all together. Going to take a step in her direction, trying to figure out what I can do to help, I pause when a hand lightly touches my arm.
Looking down I see Moyra standing next to me. She looks up at me, pleading with her eyes to let her handle this. Giving her a nod, I step back, place my back against the nearest wall, put my foot up, my arms over my chest, and get comfortable for what's about to transpire.
Moyra limps over to her daughter, pausing just arms reach away. The woman is still fragile, you can see her bones from starvation, she had a broken leg when we found her, as well as a broken arm, and she had internal bleeding.
Doc was able to heal most of her health problems by himself, but Tony and I had to help with the rest. Although, we have her as good of health we can possibly get her in, she's going to have many problems in her future.
There's a good chance she'll never be able to walk normal ever again. Her leg was broken that badly. I watch as she reaches her hand out and places some hair of Ellies that had moved into her face behind her ear, just as I do. If it was anyone else, I'd be acting irrationally, and be outraged.
In a blink of an eye Ellie is an arm length away from her mother, and then she's in her mothers' arms. They are holding one another and crying hysterically. They are saying things, but no one can make out their words. I wonder if they even can themselves, I think as I smile.
Finally, I did something right. This is the best thing I could have done for Ellie right now. With everything going on, and all that's to come, this moment means the world to her. I helped with this, my heart swells with pride.
After a while they pull back and smile at one another. Seeing them up so close to one another I can see the similarities between them. They have the same shade of red hair, same smile, but her mother has blue eyes. She must have her father's jade green.
She pulls Liz closer and introduces them. They all sit on the couch and start to talk. They have much to catch up on, when Ellie looks in my direction, she has tears in her eyes. She mouths thank you to me, I give her a nod and a smile.
Now that I know she'll be occupied for the time being, and in safe hands I make my way to my office. We have planning to get to. Making my way to the door I can already hear people arguing. Rolling my eyes, I take a few deep breaths then make my presence known.
Everyone in the room disperses and quiets down immediately. Good, I don't need a headache on top of everything else. I make my way to my chair, and sit down, making myself comfortable I give Martin a nod to update me on all I missed these last fifteen minutes.
"We sent out the Fae, Witches and Warlocks so they can make a safe perimeter for us when we arrive. Got word that they are almost done, and we can start sending Vampire and Werewolves soon." Martin sits down in one of the chairs in front of my desk and places his face into his hands. Can see the stress is getting to him badly. I let him take a minute to collect himself.
"Good, so what was all the yelling and shouting I heard as I was walking down my hallway then?" I lift an eyebrow in annoyance.
"We don't think it's a good idea. Yea fine they are setting up safety areas, but we aren't like them. In the Dark Fae Realm its worse for our kind. We cannot use most of our abilities. There's nothing to feed on for us Vamps, and the Werewolves won't be able to turn into their human form once we get through the barrier." Dominick, one of the eldest vampires in my followers' spits with rudeness in my direction.
Cannot help myself I laugh, not my usual laid back one, but one that says you're dead without the use of any words. I slowly stand and make my way to the front of my desk. I lean against it, and place my arms folded over my chest and look him dead in the eye.
"You are questioning me, Dominick?" I say in a very calm voice.
"Just stating the facts. How are we supposed to fight if we don't have all we need to fight?" He's trying to save face. Be strong in front of everyone, but I see the fear in his eyes. I watch as he swallows, and eventually he looks down to his feet.
"Well, if you'd get all the information you would know." Giving Tony a nod, he walks to the closet and gets the bag with all the vials I have placed in there. He sets it on the desk.
"This bag here," I wave to it keeping direct eye contact with everyone to be sure they are listening, "contains potions that we need for this. We went through every scenario that could possibly happen and came prepared."
"In these vials there is a liquid for the Werewolves to consume. This will make it so you can change into human or wolf form when needed. It will also help to be sure you can use your full power." They all look relieved; some even have a devilish smirk upon their faces.
"Now as for you Vampires," Joshua walks into the office carrying two coolers. "This contains blood, all O negatives. The best for you all. As it's the blood type that gives you the most strength."
Once again, I look to Dominick, "anything else you are worried about?" I move my body to be right in front of him. Daring him to challenge me. My body is ready for a fight.
"Not at all." He answers solemnly.
"Good, then all of you get the fuck out of my office. When things are ready, I will let you know, and we will be leaving." I wave to the door, as I make my way to the window. Looking out at the estate grounds always calms me in a way.
Holding my face in my hand, I close my eyes and just breath. I need to focus. Need to remain calm, and not kill any of my soldiers or followers just because I'm worked up. I'm just ready for this all to be over, so I know Ellie is safe, and we can finally have the life I have wanted for so long.
