Justin's POV

"Now that's something else."

Sandra's voice followed the beep of the intercom, "Sir, Mr. Michaels wants to see you."

"Let him in."

Toby entered with his 'what the hell's wrong with you?' expression. Before he badgers me I raise my hand "Let me explain."

"Toby, here's the thing. The favor came from the boss. You know I hate going back on my word, but I really didn't have a choice." I explained.

"That's not why I'm here." Then he crossed his arms and gave me yet another stern look. "If in any case, I'm glad that your dad asked for this favor. We need her."

"You know this girl? Are you the one who asked for the favor?! That's sneaky Mr. Michaels. Foul. " Then I activated my own 'what's wrong with you' face.

"Dude don't give me that look, I just met her in the elevator before you interviewed her. So I looked for the materials she submitted to us, her credentials are fit for a law firm intern. She has raw talent Justin, she created some real music. I think she's something worth listening to, I rarely say these things and you know me. " He took out a flash disk from his pocket and left it in the corner of my table.

"I don't get why you're so mad. I hired her, actually she hired herself, but she's going to work here. I don't understand the outrage Toby." His face seemed puzzled, he really thought I rejected Law School.

"Well, she doesn't seem happy for someone who's just been hired by a giant label. I think she was mad and crying on the phone after your interview. What the hell did you do to her?"

"The interview was routine, it was completely normal, I did nothing." I was trying not to smile because the scene played back in my mind. "You can't put the blame on me, maybe she was fighting with her boyfriend or sugar daddy, who knows?" I shrugged. But I sensed she was talking to her sponsor, the favor may have bruised her pride and apparently she has plenty.

"I'm watching you Justin, don't mess this up. We can't afford wasting trained interns anymore. Other labels are benefiting from our hard work because of your unprofessionalism, I won't let that happen again. I'll take her under my wing if I have to." Toby seemed determined, but there is now way in hell that's going to happen because Law School is mine.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My morning drive was weirdly packed with anticipation, today is little Law School's first day in Timbre.

Upon stepping out of the elevator, my eyes were going round about the vicinity looking for my fresh feisty intern.

"Good morning Mr. Caldwell"

"Morning Sandra" I continue turning my head in search for the little dynamite

"Looking for someone sir?" From that smirk, I know she knew who I was looking for, but I just walked straight into my office and ignored her.

A mug of smoking hot coffee was on my table with a post-it.

"Hot black coffee, no cream, no sugar, no spit"

I chuckled then asked Sandra to make me a cup of coffee, there's no way in hell I'm drinking that.

"At least she's here." I said to myself

"Here's your coffee sir" as she placed the mug with a coaster beside the one Law School made.

I took a sip then asked her "Where's Ms. Anderson?"

"She and Mr. Michaels went out, I think for breakfast, right before you arrived." As she exited, I dialed Toby's number.

"Where the hell are you?" I exclaimed, before he can even answer I gave him an imperative, "I want her here in my office in 5 minutes." then hung up.

My face was unusually red and hot, I tapped my wristwatch in pace waiting for their arrival. When a vague sound came from the elevator, I decided to look busy and opened my laptop.

"Justin, I just asked her to grab a quick breakfast with me downstairs. Welcome her to Timbre that's all." He said while walking into my office with Paige behind him.

"How professional of you. " A bitter expression formed on his face, tasting his own medicine, "Leave us now." I commanded

Before leaving my office, he held her wrist and said something in her ear. I stood up abruptly, but I didn't know what to say, so I pretended I was going to get some water, then Toby went for the door.

She just silently stood behind the couch looking at me, I did not exactly liked it, but I did not disliked it either. I hope she's enjoying the view, I'm wearing a suit for my queued meetings today.

"You should have said something witty by now Law School", just to break the awkward silence.

"You're right, I should have just said no. It was already working hours." Her face looked like one of a guilty child - pouty and looking down. It was turning me on, I was thinking of putting my lips deeply onto hers and say, 'It's okay, I just needed you to be here.' I shook my head to get rid of the weird random thought.

"It's gonna be one helluva day." I tell myself.

"Come, let me tell you something", while gesturing with my hand.

She sat on the same chair where she was interviewed, "What is it Mr. Caldwell?" she asked.

"You're my intern, your office will be that couch over there. No service will be rendered to anybody except me. Wherever I say you go, you go, your presence is required as long as I am here. You will also be on my call 24/7. And no more breakfasts with Toby or anything with Toby or anything with anybody here. If you can't handle that, the door is wide open." Then I pointed my finger to the door that was not literally nor figuratively open at all.

She stood up and turned around, then she started walking.

I panicked as I see her towards the direction of the door.

I stood up and chased her, but she just sat on the couch and brought out her MacBook.

"I'll be here in my office if you need me." I wanted to wipe off the smirk on her face and take her right there on the couch because she freaking toyed with me. What a naughty girl, making me chase her even after making a mistake on her first day. She's good. Very good.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

It has been a long week and Law School has given a great deal of help. She is efficient, a fast learner, better than all my other interns, not to mention better looking as well. I hear no complaints, not even a hint of exhaustion in her tone when she speaks, but I can see in her eyes that she was tired.

She was overworked, I kept on giving her task after task just to keep her in the office, but she just keeps on finishing them. Hell, I even gave her tasks that I should have given to Toby, just to test her. She just keeps on surprising me.

I think it's time to give my intern a little Caldwell treat.

"Paige, can you come here for a second?"
