"Mark...?"

He froze. "How do you know my name?" He asked.
"Is it really you...?" You ask cautiously.
"What do you mean, is it really me?"
"I... My childhood best friend and I did the same thing. And I had to move away... and never saw him again." He looked over at you, despair and confusion written all over his face. "What...?"
Your eyes widen. "Mark."
He does the same exact thing in unison. "Y/n."
"Oh my god. It-it's really you!" You laugh and leap into his arms. He wraps his arms around you tightly. "Y/n, oh my god, how-" He's grinning widely, and so are you. You were finally reunited with your second half. You were so happy you started crying into his chest. "Hey, no, don't cry! Don't be sad!"
"I'm not sad," You say between sobs. "I'm so happy I finally found you."
"Me too, Y/n." You stayed in this position for a little bit, enjoying the comfortable silence. Then you wiggle around a bit to look up at him. "Wow."
"Wow indeed." He looks down at you passionately, like you're the only thing that ever mattered in the world. You put your face back into his chest. "I missed you. I never forgot about you, Mark."
"I missed you too." You both released each other from the hug. You shift back over to your spot on the branch, you and Mark's backs against the trunk of the large tree. You rest your head on his shoulder. "So," you say, "How have you been?"
He laughed. "I've been getting along well. It's not been too easy... but i've made it. How about you?"
"Great. Mom told me to tell you if I ever see you one day, to tell you she said hi."
"Classic Sharon." We both giggled. You paused. "So whats it like here?"
"Its... unique. Every other day we do something they consider fun, like arts and crafts, kayaking and canoeing, hiking. Stuff like that. But at the end of every week, we have to go to this doctor's office... they check us out and give us "special meds". We've made fake ones and replaced the ones we were supposed to be taking with those. And..."
This seemed really messed up. "And?"
"We discovered stuff."
"Wait, we?"
"The other kids in camp."
"Oh."
"We... uh- found out we have... powers." You laughed. "Cool."
"No, for real. Its... crazy, I know. But we have them."
"Really? Like what? You know I'd always believe you."
"Like..." He began to list a bunch of things super fast. "Mind reading. Talking to animals. Truth telling. Hybrids, shapeshifting, telling the future, plant controlling, telepathic powers, fire powers, water powers, controlling weight-"
"Woah woah woah. Slow down, Mark. Superpowers? For real? You're not messing with me, are you..?"
"No!" he exclaimed. "Okay. I'm sorry. This is... weird." You say and grab his hand to hold it. He interlaces his fingers with yours. "Powers. Thats really cool! What's yours?" You ask him. He frowns. "I'm... not sure yet. Nothing's happened. Except night vision. Thats weird."
"Maybe that is your power? Or is it a bad thing?"
"No, not my powers. Other kids have night vision along with their main powers. And because we have these 'special abilities', the people running this place study us."
"Wait. They're studying you?!"
"Yeah."
"Thats sick. Twisted. Who in their right mind would do that?" You ask, disgusted. "The government," Mark replies. "Oh. Makes sense." Suddenly, something high-pitched beeped. You shifted yourself to watch as Mark brought his arm up to look at it. "Shit. Y"n, we have to go, or we'll be late."
"Late for what?"
"Oh. Right. Forgot to tell you... we have meetings every other night for plan discussion... we're trying to escape." You raise your eyebrows. "Okay. Wow. Well, lets go then!"
"We have 10 to be there."
"Okay." You say. Then you remembered Nihachu and Puffy. "Wait. Mark? What about Nihachu and Puffy?"
"Oh. I'll get you back to them. They take the southwest route to the meeting place. I take the west. We're not going to see each other until we get there, but I'll save you a spot," Mark explains as he puts his mask and glasses back on. You nod and start climbing down the tree.
You jumped down the final branch and landed square on your feet. Before Mark, obviously. He landed next to you after a few seconds. "Y/n, one more thing. We don't use our real names, just code names... in case of someone listening," He says to you. "Okay, Ranboo," You say teasingly and punch his arm slightly. He ruffles your hair and grabs your hand. Then, you're running.
Once you reach the cabin, You hug Ranboo goodbye and climb back through the window. A flashlight is sitting on the bed, and Puffy and Nihachu frantically scramble under the beds as you enter. "Guys," you whisper. Puffy pokes her head out. "Raven?" Nihachu is next. "Where were you?" I sigh and climb the rest of the way into the window and close it. "Ranboo."
They glance at each other. "Oh," they says in unison and giggle quietly. "What?" you demand in a whisper. "Nothing," Puffy replies. "The last meeting he was just so convinced that the next person to come would help us escape." I snort and walk over to Nihachu, who was successfully out from under the bed. "What time is it?"
"12:54," Nihachu tells you.
"When you were gone, you scared us so much that we thought someone had taken you. in a way, they had," Puffy said jokingly. "Well, I'm still in my pajamas, so I'm going to change so I can go," you tell them. They nod, and you rummage around in your suitcase for a decent pair of clothes. You select a pair of black cargo pants, white sleeveless shirt, and a long-sleeve dark green plaid shirt to wear loosely over it. You turn around to change, then tie your hair up with a black bandana. An outfit fit for sneaking out. (you can change this to your liking!)
When you turn around, Puffy wolf-whistled as quietly as she could. "Lookin' sharp, Raven!" Nihachu smiled. "Let's go."
