The three of us head towards our usual spot, a karaoke bar only a few streets away from my place. As soon as we got in I ordered my usual drink, a 'cherry bomb' and sipped it to pace myself whilst Val talked to me about the date she went on yesterday with some girl she met on the train a few weeks ago.

'Ally I swear it was the best date I've ever been on, we got along so well. I'm gonna see her again soon and you'll love her so much as well. I promise nothing like the last one'

I nodded my head taking in what she was saying. Val dates a lot but she never sticks to anyone because as soon as it gets past the dating stage she backs off. The amount of times I've had to try and persuade her not to self sabotage is endless, but dating is fun for her and relationships aren't. Personally, I've sworn off both.

As Val continued to ramble on about the new love of her life my eyes drifted over her shoulder to scan the rest of the room, karaoke started in 20 minutes and I figured what better way to practice for my audition than to get up there and sing a song. I drew my attention back to the conversation at hand and matched Val's enthusiasm, encouraging her to go for it. Leaning my elbows forward in the bar, I wrapped my lips around the straw in my drink and glanced down along the bar top. Jackson was at the other and chatting up a girl and I winked at him as he caught my eye over her shoulder.

Looking down at my glass, I notice it's empty, huh so much for pacing myself, I didn't even realise I was drinking so fast. As I push the empty glass across the sticky bar top and firm pair of hands rest on my waist. I turn around ready to chew out whichever idiot has decided to hit on me but as I look up to find his face my eyes connect with a pair of green ones. He looks at me questioningly and then seems to register where his hands are, his eyes widen as he tries to form an apology.

'Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I wasn't paying attention' he gets out frantically.

'I just need to squeeze past you, my friends are down there' he explains pointing at some unknown booth down near the stage'.

I tear my gaze away from him and sigh, telling him not to worry about it as I shuffle out of the way to let him pass. As I turn back around the bartender has returned to our end of the bar.

'Another cherry-bomb?' he questions grabbing my empty glass.

I nod in affirmation.

Jackson comes up to us once I've got my new drink and tells us that he's got a booth for us and has put my name down for karaoke. I grab my bag and wince as the barstool squeaks against the floor before following him and Val to the booth.

Coincidentally, it's the one right next to green-eyes and his friends and he smiles at me like an idiot as we walk past, giving me once over and tilting his head to the side like a lost puppy when I shoot him a dirty look. His friend nudges him in the ribs and he looks away, tuning back into their conversation. I slide into the booth with my back to him but I can feel his eyes burning holes into the back of my head.

After a few minutes I turned my attention towards the karaoke. A boy stands up on the stage and begins a god-awful version of 'it wasn't me' by shaggy. But he seemed into it and the drunks on the dance floor probably would have happily grinded on each other to whale noises or a depressing poetry reading by the look of them.

As I'm lost in thought thinking about what I'm going to sing green-eyes moves from his seat up near the stage. I catch his eyes and raise my eyebrows. He smirks at me, clearly growing in confidence as we interact more. If he gets up there and sounds like a dying cat then I'm not sure I'll be able to hold my laughter in. As he steps up I shift around so I can see the stage clearly.
