"...Dr. Ryuga, right? I've heard of your achievements and studies in the medical field. You scored fairly well in your tactical planning exam during the simulations as well. This is.. quite impressive among the new Doctor applications we have had," Kal'tsit said as she looked over the papers, taking a peek at the new applicant for the position of Doctor in Rhodes Island. She seemed to be sizing him up, looking to see if he showed any signs of fear of unease at her presence. However, there was no such thing.
Ryuga was a Lung. However, he had been born with no form of Arts assimilation, which led him to pursue other forms of careers outside of being an Operator. Recently, he had heard that Rhodes Island was looking for a replacement for their last Doctor, who had run off into the unknown. He didn't hear much, but it also had something to do with the leader of the Reunion? He didn't usually listen to news like this much, but something this big had caught his attention.
A few days ago, he had submitted his application to become a Doctor within Rhodes Island. (because why not?) This was an interesting opportunity as well as a good paying job. He had seen Rhodes Island do a bit of combat before when they were in the streets of Lungmen, but hadn't really been able to do much other than watch. And he was surprised this morning when he had gotten an email telling him to go into Rhodes Island for an interview. Surely, this had to be good news?
At the moment, he was within Kal'tsit's office. She was reviewing his career and life to make sure he was clean and not in any trouble with anything whatsoever. However, the line of people behind him when he entered Kal'tsit's office made him uncomfortable. They didn't seem to be Operators at all, meaning they should all be rivial Doctors for the position.
"Thank you, ma'am. Is there anything else you want to know?" Ryuga asked, wondering if there was something that he didn't know. Surely, she would have told him something by now other than reappraising his merits if she had made her choice. If there was something he didn't approve of, it was skirting around an answer.
Kal'tsit sighed before explaining the situation, leaning back on her chair as if this was going to be a very long talk. Before she started speaking, she took a sip of coffee on her table.
"Dr. Ryuga.. As you have heard, Rhodes Island is seeking a Doctor, yes. However.. due to the overflowing amount of applicants, there have been changes made. The other staff and I have decided to open not just one, but multiple positions. How this will work is that each 'Doctor' will be in charge of a squad. But do keep in mind that each of them will either be just as good as you. We're still not accepting people that don't meet our criteria," Kal'tsit explained slowly, making sure Ryuga knew what she was talking about. She didn't want to have to explain this more than once.
Ryuga simply listened to what she had to say. He may have seemed calm, but he was surprised. He didn't expect for the situation to change to this. Were there seriously that many applicants? He wanted to speak out about the situation, but kept his mouth shut. If this decision was made, there must've been a lot of thought put into it beforehand.
Seeing that Ryuga didn't say anything, Kal'tsit continued to speak to him, "So knowing all of this, do you still want this position, Ryuga? Once you give me your answer, I will assign you a squad of randomly picked Operators. But do hurry up, since there are.. about 57 more applicants behind you."
Was this really what he wanted? Ryuga did a bit of thinking. He hadn't expected to be accepted. But he also hadn't expected the situation to turn into this. Most others would be asking if their paychecks would be reduced, but Ryuga knew better than that. He still had his priorities as a normal person and a doctor. With Kal'tsit looking at him expectantly, he opened his mouth to give his answer.
