The wind's blowing hard against the school's office window, a place Alice never thought she'd see herself in, but here she is.
Alice knew she would hate Russia, but it's a place she was forced to go and now a new school uniform being ordered to wear, she readies to attend her new school in St Petersburg and uses the office waiting area to do so.
Her Mum moved in with her Russian husband Viktor Resnov, a man she despises no matter how hard he tries to be fake nice to her.
"I'm here for my new timetable." Alice squeaks at the reception lady, the old woman peering up at her with hard blue eyes before opening her mouth.
"And you are?" the woman asks bluntly, her Russian accent thick and making it a little hard for Alice to understand her.
"Alice Hayes." she mumbles while glancing at her shoes as the lady bangs her old fingers on the keyboard.
"Okay here it is. Have a good day." the lady smiles crisply then hands it to her and returning to her work.
Alice exits the office and heads to her locker, students casting her glances of confusion though she doesn't understand; she thought her bright orange hair would match her black uniform.
Maybe Russia isn't ready for her yet.
Inhaling a deep breath she grabs the books for her next class then locks her locker, spinning around and almost colliding into a guy around six foot or taller, deep mocha orbs, messy chocolate brown locks and sun kissed skin.
She checks out his body for some the same reasons all girls do when meeting an attractive guy, strongly built and perfect in every way but she is meant to hate the school and everyone in it, so she's quick to turn her interest into disgust.
Alice can't contain her raging pulse, sweaty hands and gawking eyes the longer she is forced to look at him, her distaste for the male slowly turning back into interest no matter how hard she fights it.
"S-sorry." she stutters then blushes instantly and causing her to lock gazes with her Doc Martens.
"It's fine. I see you're from Australia, why'd you move here?" the guy grins with his accent getting in the way a bit of what he's saying.
"My Mum married a guy over here." she answers simply while scuffing the toe of her Doc along the carpet.
"I see." the boy grins even wider when he runs a tanned hand through his messy hair.
"Well I'm Alice Hayes." she smiles then extends her subtly trembling hand thanks to the adrenaline now coursing through her veins, this guy has managed to spark up inside her.
"Joseph Kuschevski." he beams back and takes her hand.
The touch sends shivers up her spine, goosebumps breaking out all over her skin though she is quick to bite her lip to stop her from gawking at him any longer.
"What class?" he asks yet his accent sends another wave of shivers through her.
"Ah art." she finally answers when she's able to tear her gaze away from his, something she doesn't want to do yet does considering she isn't that easily swept off of her feet.
"Alright let's go. I have the same art class as you." he chuckles before noticing Alice's slight blush.
"Okay cool." she says meekly whilst sensing Joseph's gaze on her once again.
Alice and Joseph make their way to art, both silent because Alice is too scared to talk and Joseph really doesn't know what to say at this point.
