Hey Wattpadders! We are teaming up with Hilroy just in time for back-to-school to bring you an amazing writing opportunity.

Hilroy has been helping Canadians put pen to paper for 100 years now. Great things get started in Hilroy every day. Smart things, creative things, never-been-done-before things. All you need to start something great is a pen, some paper, and that big, beautiful brain of yours.

Now is the time to start something. Now is the time to start writing.

Together, Wattpad and Hilroy are thrilled to launch the #StartWriting Contest! We want you to tell us all about your unique ideation process and how it keeps you motivated to start! Share what inspires you and it just might inspire others to start something themselves!

📝Contest Challenge

We want to know what YOUR process of idea generation is. Whether it be scribbling on the back of a napkin or jotting down some bullet points in a notebook. What helps foster your creative thoughts? Tell how and INSPIRE others.

In 500 words or less, tell us your unique creative process and how it pushes you to #StartWriting.

💭Thought Starters

-How does writing things down, journaling or even doodling, help to get your creative juices flowing before you are about to write?

-If you can inspire someone else to start writing, what advice would you give them?

-Do you have tips for using notebooks to develop your stories? We want you to share them!

-Tag an author who's ideation process you'd love to learn more about

-At what moments do you feel your most creative self? Do you find yourself writing down ideas or journaling in the day or at night? Alone or in a group?

-Tell us about your best piece of writing - Be it a novel, a poem, a song, or even a letter to someone special. What process or inspiration led you to writing this piece?

There's only one right way to start and that's your way.

-Deadline to enter this contest is September 7th, 2021 at 11:59PM Eastern standard Time.

📜 Submission Requirements

-Posted as a new story on your Wattpad profile

-Submission must be in English

-Submission must be tagged #StartWriting

-Any Submission not compliant with Wattpad's Content Guidelines will be removed immediately

You can enter as many times as you like, as long as each entry is submitted as a new story and meets these submissions guidelines

✅ Eligibility Requirements

-Entrants must be legal residents of Canada and 13 years of age or older at the time of entry.

-You must be signed in to Wattpad to enter the contest (must have a Wattpad account to enter, to create one for free, visit https://www.wattpad.com/login

🏆 Prizes

One (1) GRAND PRIZE winner shall receive the following:

-$1,000 CAD cash prize

-One (1) shout out on the @ImproveYourWriting profile on Wattpad

Four (4) additional winners shall receive the following:
