Related By the Heart

Prologue

Annika was a sweet girl. She had an adopted brother who she was rising, however she was also attending college. She got into one of the top colleges after studying hard and earning a scholarship.

She became friends with Priyanka, who would often take her along to see her family. Dadi who has met Annika, fell in love with her and asked Shivaay to marry her.

Shivaay was in love with Kritika, but because she comes from a broken house, where her parents were divorced Dadi didn't approve of the marriage. She told Shivaay, if he cared about her (Dadi) he would marry the girl she chose.

With no choice he married Annika. He was honest with Annika from the first day of their marriage. He told her to act like husband and wife in front of the family, but behind closed doors, she was nothing to him.

Annika was a great wife in front of the family, to make sure Dadi was happy. But, she never got the love of her husband.

A few months after Kritika found out she was pregnant and told Shivaay. He was furious and that night he went home. After, seeing Annika in the room he told her she was the reason he couldn't be with his love and she is the reason a woman doesn't have the man who loves her with her while she was pregnant. He called her a gold digger and said he knew she was with him for the money.

Annika was broken upon hearing what Shivaay had to say about her. She started to keep a distance from him, but somewhere she left guilty of taking Shivaay's love away from him. She also felt guilty that a baby was going to grow up without a father.

Three months passed and Annika became more distance from the family, but since everyone was busy no one noticed.

Shivaay's younger brother came home from a trip, when he decided there should be a party. There Shivaay and Annika got drunk and spelt together. The morning after Shivaay accuses Annika of getting him drunk, so she could get him in bed.

She decided that day she will no longer take the accusations. She called from college to see if she could move into a dorm. Her brother was already in boarding school. She packed her things and by the next week had left.

She called left a letter for Dadi explaining that she couldn't give Shivaay the love of a wife and that pushed Shivaay away from her. That she was in love with someone else, but couldn't hurt Dadi, however she could no longer stay with Shivaay. She told Dadi a family is there for each other and Dadi should have listened to Shivaay and thought about his happiness. She took the blame on herself, so Dadi would accept Kritika.

Annika found out a month later she was pregnant and called Shivaay to tell him, but along with it she said that she will take care of her baby and she nor her baby will come in between him and his family. She only wanted that Shivaay give up all rights on that child, so even him can be happy with his own family. Shivaay agreed and decided to give up his rights on the baby, as for him this baby was only her's.

After three months Annika and Shivaay's divorce was finalized, but there to Shivaay saw Annika hugging a man named Ryan. Who had been there along with Jessica and Mark over the past few months for Annika, when she needed someone the most. They were all on a study aboard semester from the United States, who arrived a month after Annika moved into her dorm and had recently found out she was pregnant. When Shivaay saw her hugging him and said that it seemed like this marriage meant nothing to her either as she was able to move on fast. Ryan told him unlike him Annika was pure and would never disrespect a sacred bond. She moved on, but with herself and her baby. She did not need a man. She was enough for herself. She took the blame on herself unlike him. Ryan also said, unlike you at least Annika was willing to forget her happiness so he could be happy with his girlfriend and their baby. That as a husband she needed him so much, especially when she was pregnant, but he wasn't there for her. As for Ryan his, her best friend. Some relationship take years, others form instantly.
