Beth Chase was now 14 years old, she had her long blonde hair tied back in a ponytail, and was beautiful, when she walked in town, men fell over their heels for her, which annoyed her constantly.

Today she wore a black dress, and no man fell over her heels today.

No, today was her Father's Funeral.

Her Father had been doing his rounds, keeping sure that everyone in the kingdom was coping okay then the Pirates came, kidnap him, tortured him to death, and just when he had been recovering okay, he passed away.

Her Stepmother didn't grieve but then again, she didn't have a sense of freaking humour at all or a fun part in her bones at all.

But Beth let tears fall down her face.

Once the Priest finishes his sayings of farewell, she drops down a rose flower onto her father's coffin.

"thank you, Father, for all the wonderful memories, and I hope you and mama can find each other where ever you are,." said Beth, she sat on the grass, watching as the coffin disappeared.

"Lady Beth, it's time to go." Said James. She nod, she got up, dusted off her dress and went into the carriage.

She sat in the carriage, just looking out of the window playing with her dress. Duchess Jane cleared her throat which cause Beth to look at her, duchess Jane gave her a force smile at her stepdaughter.

"Beth, we should start over, it's what your Father would want." Said Duchess Jane. Beth just gave her all wining smile.

"Yes, Stepmother, I'm sure that'll make Mama and Father happy and they can rest in peace." Said Beth.

 Duchess Jane's smile tightens.

"Yes. That is the best thing to do." She said, and the rest of the journey is in silent.

They got back to the house, a young Maid came, she has green eyes as the grass, and her hair is jet black as the night sky.

"Duchess and my Lady. Did the Funeral go well?" Asked the Maid, Ginny. The Duchess just walked past her, bumping her shoulder, Ginny didn't say anything, but Beth glare at her Stepmother then she smile at Ginny.

"Yes, Ginny, it went well as one can expect. I'm just glad my Father can rest in peace now, compare to the pain he was in." Beth told her.

 Ginny gave her a bow.

"That's good, my Lady. Now shall I take your coat" said Ginny, she did and hang it up.

Beth didn't see her cat in her bed.

"Have you seen Misty, Ginny?" Beth asked her.

Ginny thought about it.

"Why....Yes, the last time I saw her, she was lying on your bed." Ginny told her.

"Thank you, Ginny." Said Beth and head up the stairs.

Beth found her cat lying on her pillow, sleeping, she pick her up, the cat meowed in annoyance.

Annoyed to be woken up and off her comfortable spot. She start to pet her and the cat start to purr happily. She sat down with the cat and kept petting her.

Her stepmother entered her room like nobody's business, the cat stopped purring.

"Beth, why don't you come down and play the piano for your guests instead of having....animal Company?" asked Duchess Jane, frowning at the cat sitting on her lap.

"Yes, stepmother let me get change into something more comfortable and I'll be down." Said Beth. She nods curtly and left.

She starch behind Misty's ear.
