Author's notes - Are songfic even a thing anymore? ^_^ I think I'm revealing my age with this one but I decided to revamp some songfics I wrote nearly 15 years ago. *shrugs* Enjoy!

P.S. For those who don't know, a songfic is a story centered around a song. This was actually a two-shot that I turned into a one-shot.

The moon was high over Tokyo, shining brightly over a small shrine hidden amongst the concrete jungle. Gah! I'm never ganna be able to finish this in time! I need some inspiration! A young girl sighed over her guitar, her blank music sheets scattered around her. She plucked a few random chords but she still couldn't get the notes to work together. Another sigh followed by a loud screech woke the slumbering members of the Higurashi household. Three "Be quiet, Kagome!"'s could be heard soon after. They act like I meant to wake them up, the young girl named Kagome thought, pouting slightly. A third sigh slipped out before she closed her eyes. Banging her head on the table (quietly!), she decided to call her partner in crime and best friend since forever, Sesshoumaru.

Three rings was all she heard before, "Taisho, speak."

Kagome barked out a laugh, "Jeez, Sesshou! A year at your dad's company and you already sound stuffy as hell."

"What do you want at one in the morning?"

"Is it really after midnight?" A quick glance at her alarm clock confirmed the hour. "Crap! I'm sorry Sesshou but I called you cause I need help with the song we're ganna perform for the Shikon Annual Talent show!"

Silence greeted her exclamation before: "Kagome, I am not performing the talent show with you this year."

"B...but why? We perform every year, ever since I was allowed to audition in the 8th grade!"

"Kagura wishes for us to travel that weekend."

"You promised that we'd always perform as a team, Sesshoumaru. Remember?"

"Yes, I do. However, I..."

"No, I don't want your excuses. I wonder what else you've lied to me about," she couldn't stop her lower lip from quivering or the sadness in her voice. She knew that she may have been overreacting but ever since him and Kagura started dating, he's been blowing her off more and more. "Were you ever really my friend or did you just become my friend to piss off Inuyasha?"

"I've never lied to you Kagome."

"No...you just broke your word."

"Kagome..."

"Whatever..." Kagome hung up then, her tears falling down her cheeks to land on her guitar. At least I found my inspiration. A sadden laugh left her lips as she plucked a few cords on her guitar before furious scribbling filled her silent room. She continued like that until well into the night. When the song was finished, she sighed. I'll have to call Sango and ask if she'll play her keyboard with me...

Sesshoumaru stared at his cell phone for what seemed like hours. He finally broke his one sided staring contest by hanging his head. Sesshoumaru was proud of the control he had on his emotions but at this moment, he could feel his heart stirring at the center of an emotional storm. Being the eldest son of the Taisho empire meant that he was under a lot of scrutiny. The nature of his position also meant he had to follow certain protocols, including dating those who are on the same social level. Soon anger replaced regret and he threw his phone across the room. It shattered into many tiny pieces from the force of it hitting the wall but it still did not make Sesshoumaru feel any better. Damn my father!
