Emma's POV

I was at school when this kid walked up to me. "Hi. I'm new here and I was wondering if you could show me where the math room is?" he said. "Sure, follow me." I said walking towards my locker. Once I got there, I opened it and got my books. "I have math next period too." I said slamming my locker shut. He flinched back. I started walking in the direction of the math room. I jerked my head back, "Oh yeah my name's Emma." "Hey I'm Matthew." he said still following me. We finally got there and walked in the classroom. I walked over and sat in my seat and Matthew stood there waiting for the teacher. "Oh a new student? Let me see." Mrs. Lee said looking at her computer. "Matthew?" she asked. "Yes." he said looking down. He slid his hand in and out of his pocket grabbing something. His phone. Mrs. Lee looked over at him. "First rule is no phones." she said in a firm voice. Matthew quickly put it back and looked up. "Sorry ma'am." he mumbled. "Okay you can sit by..." she started as she looked around for a open seat. Not me. Please not me. "Emma. You can go and take a seat over by Emma." she finished as she grinned. Gosh dang it. Matthew sat down next to me. "Emma! What have I told you about chewing gum in this class room? Go spit it out. Now!" As you can probably already tell... she's a strict teacher. I don't mind but with this kid sitting next to me, I have a feeling I will be getting in a lot more trouble. I went to go and throw my gum away as everyone watched me. When I sat back down I whispered to Matthew, "What class do you have next?" "Science." he answered, still paying attention to what the teacher was saying. "Same."
The rest of the day went by pretty fast. He has most of his classes with me and the same lunch period. When it was about time to get on the bus to go back home Matthew ran up behind me yelling my name. I turned around and said, "What do you want? The whole dang school can probably hear you!" "Sorry. I just wanted to say thanks for showing me around today." he said out of breathe. "Yeah, no problem. Matthew right?" I asked back. "Yeah. You can call me Matt though." he answered and grinned. "Okay Matt. Well have a nice rest of your day." "Okay thanks. You too." he said and walked off. He seams nice... I think I like him.
