"The patrol will lead Darkclaw. And with Dark Claw will go: Nightpaw, Icedew and Shrewtail. Find as many herbs as possible." Tornjaw, muttered a little fearfully. Nightpaw took a deep breath. He knew well from Sagewing that catmint grows in Two leg's place. Darkclaw looked at his apprentice and murmured:
"Let's go."
It started to rain while I searched for herbs outside the camp. Nightpaw paused as Darkclaw stopped.
"Let's split up. Icedew and Shrewtail you will go to the right. And I will go left with Nightpaw."
"Understandable Darkclaw." Shrewtail muttered. Darkclaw nodded and dashed to the left. Nightpaw ran after him.
I'm so wet! Nightpaw growled mentally. But if he wants to be the best warrior he has to collect as many herbs as possible! Nightpaw brightened and did not care about the wet fur.
"I found a sorrel!" Darkclaw informed.
"What are we going to do with him?" Nightpaw asked uncertainly, looking at his mentor.
"Take it easy, I'll keep the herbs. And it's your job to find them." The gray warrior purred calmly
holding a sorrel in its mouth. Nightpaw purred gracefully softly. He walked towards the brush and tried to focus as if on his judgment. Certainly there will be lungwort here somewhere. Nightpaw thought softly. When he noticed a plant similar to lungwort, he walked towards him. The apprentice wiggled his ears and stared at the plant without hearing Darkclaw's terrifying warning scream.
"Nightpaw! Come back here!"
I have my first herb. Nightpaw thought proudly. The black apprentice suddenly froze motionless as a fox emerged from the bushes and attacked Nightpaw. Suddenly he remembered how his mother and father had abandoned him. Darkclaw rushed to the rescue, violently spitting the sorrel from its mouth. He attacked the fox, but the animal turned out to be aggressive. Nightpaw awoke from his thoughts and watched in horror as his mentor fought the ginger beast. Oh no! He exclaimed in his mind.
"Darkclaw!" Nightpaw screamed in horror. The fox bit the Darkclaw in the paw and the warrior quickly hit him with the other paw.
"Get help!" Darkclaw screamed in horror. Nightpaw ran violently forward. It's too far from the camp so the only hope is to find Icedew and Shrewtail.
Please show yourselves! Pleaded the Nightpaw warriors. He was glad when he noticed the characteristic tortoiseshell fur of Icedew from a distance.
"Icedew!" He called out as loud as he could. It collided with Shrewtail which was just holding the lungwort.
"What's going on, Nightpaw? " Icedew asked first, seeing the horror of the young apprentice. Nightpaw could barely say anything, but he screamed, knowing he would scare the prey:
"Dark Claw fights the fox!"
"Quickly lead us to him." Shrewtail purred. Nightpaw ran as fast as the hare.
He cannot die! Withstand Darkclaw, I'm coming! He shouted inwardly. When he immediately noticed the red fur, he jumped on the fox even though he did not know how to fight.
"No Nightpaw!" He heard the scream of Darkclaw. Nightpaw extended its claws and struck the predator's paws.
"Stop! You can not!"
The fox made a menacing growl and attacked the apprentice. Icedew attacked the fox while Nightpaw lay exhausted on the ground.
I didn't know the fight was so hard. Nightpaw thought. While the fox appeared harmless, the Shrewtail helped Icedew. The fox howled and disappeared quickly into the bushes. Nightpaw felt a pain on his paw.
