Hazel frowned as she stared at her phone. She sat, or rather, lay, on the sofa in her living room. It had been almost four hours since she last talked to her boyfriend, Adrian. Today would be the first time he ever met the blonde’s mother, and he was already off to a bad start.
She sighed, rolling her eyes as her phone began to ring, the theme song of Sherlock consuming the silence of the room. She drew in a breath as she answered.
“What?” she monotoned. The voice on the other end of the call was frantic, crazed even.
“Sorry! I know I’m a little late but it’s all good! Right!?”
A long pause.
“Hazel? Hazel?...Please don’t kill me.” Adrian muttered.
“Hurry up.”
Click.
She loved her idiotic AZ, but sometimes he could really push her patience.
(Meanwhile)
Adrian raced about his house in a frenzy, he was well aware of how late he was. He search his brain for any kind of excuse he could give for his tardiness, not like it would help him though. Hazel wasn’t the most forgiving person out there.
The sixteen-year old glared at his reflection, unruly hair, a pale complexion. The contrast between his near ghostly white skin and bright grey eyes was beyond unnerving. He never really cared about the way his hair looked, his girlfriend, on the other hand, acted as if it’s messiness would killing her. She always ended up trying her best to “fix” it, Adrian grinned around the toothbrush hanging out of his mouth at the thought.
Resuming his previous panicky state, he rushed back into his bedroom. His parents were almost never home and his younger brother Henry was currently at a friend’s house. He stared down at the assortment of clothes on his bed, what the hell was he supposed to wear?
‘I could call and ask, Haze…but…she’d probably kill me. On the other hand…she’d probably kill me if I showed up looking like…well…me wouldn’t she?’ He thought to himself.
He shrugged grabbing his clothes and racing back out and into the hallway. He slammed the door behind himself as he headed for the red truck his mom had gotten him for his birthday, it was rather high off the ground and he often had to help his elfin girlfriend into it. He slid into the driver’s side and searched his pockets for his keys, in the process he happened to look down freezing up immediately.
“Shoes.” He stuttered, he glanced at the clock. “7:30.” He gulped. There was no way he was coming out of this one unscathed. He raced back into his home grabbing an old pair of sneakers before barreling back out the door. By the time he arrived at the blonde girl’s house the sun had long since set.
He paced outside the door nervously.
‘I wonder if I was supposed to bring flowers?’ he asked himself
‘You idiot, of course you were!’ he answered. He bit his lower lip searching the depths of his mind for yet another excuse. He grinned widely, noticing a small potted flower to his left.

Hazel looked up noticing the shine of headlights in the window. Her mother sat across from he an awkward expression plastered across her face. She rose from her seat, running a hand through her hair upon hearing sound of knocking.
‘Well at least he made it.’ She thought in an attempt to comfort himself. She swung the door open, blinking dumbfounded at the sight in front of her. In front of her stood the boy that she was somewhat ashamed to call hers, messy hair, lopsided grin, bright eyes and all. In his hands was the potted rose she had put out last week.
His grin faltered, “Too much?” he muttered.
“Put…the rose…down.” She half growled in reply.
“Yes, ma’am.” He returned the plant to its resting place.
She frowned, poking the tall boy’s nose.
“Be normal.” She ordered him.
“This is me we’re talking about, when am I not normal?” he grinned, earning him a doubtful smirk from the blue eyed beauty. Hazel reached for his hand intertwining his fingers with hers and pulled him into the house.
She drug him in front of the dark haired woman that Adrian assumed was Hazel’s mother.
“Mom, this is Adrian. Adrian, this is my mother.” She said, from her facial expression the dark haired teenager could tell she was holding her breath.
He was about to say hello when he found himself being interrupted.
“Two rules. Stay out of her bedroom, and be out of here by ten? I’m sure this will be the start of a wonderful relationship.” Her mother said with a smile, before excusing herself from the room. Adrian looked down at his diminutive partner with a confused face.
“Don’t think about it too much.” She shrugged, she released his hand and dropped down onto the couch. Adrian familiarized himself with the floor, resting his head against the side of her leg.
“So…I stressed myself out for a week…over this?” he asked.
“Mhm.” Was her reply.
“Perfect.” He laughed.
“You’re an idiot.” She monotoned.
“Yes, but I’m your idiot.”
She smiled, sure he was the exact opposite of her in almost every single way, but I guess that was why she loved him.
