12. LAST KISS

CHAPTER 12. THIS WOULD BE THE LAST KISS YOU SHARED.

YOU figured that he would end up leaving you behind one way or another. You knew, deep down, that he wasn’t going to let you fight with him. You both knew what the outcome would have been should he let you. 

So when you awoke to find him missing from your side, and the entire manor filled with silence, you knew. It pained you to know he didn’t trust you enough to bring you back onto the battlefield, but a part of you didn’t blame him. You didn’t even know if you could go through with a fight in your mental state. 

The silence was tearing you apart. You’d grown used to always hearing something. The girls running about. Chatter from the fellow members. The quiet scuttering of the servants and maids. But now, it didn’t even seem that the birds had anything to say. It was eerily quiet. 

You both knew good and damn well why he left you behind. You both knew exactly how this night would end. You both knew you wouldn’t be waking up to spend another Christmas morning together, despite how you wished so. 

“Good morning, Sunshine!”

You opened your eyes to be met with a bright smile, and a set of shining onyx eyes. You immediately smiled at the sight of his face. 

“Good morning, Sugar,” You said, returning the light kiss he gave you. “You’re up pretty early for someone who declared they were sleeping in.”

“Weeeell,” He drug out, slipping from the bed. “I had a surprise!”

Both Nanako and Mimiko jumped up from the foot of the bed. They were dressed in cute little jumpers, each with a Santa’s hat on. They jumped onto the bed, crashing into your chest as they shouted: “Merry Christmas, Y/n-sama!”

You laughed aloud, wrapping your arms around them as you did. “M-Merry Christmas!”

“Ok, girls, come on!” Geto called. “Let’s get her present ready!”

“Okay!” They said, crawling off the bed to run down the hall. Geto took your robe from the back of the door, slipping it on you as you got out of the bed. He took your hand, leading you behind him. 

“Sugar, what are you doing?” You laughed as he opened the door leading outside. He picked you up in his arms, walking out into the snow. 

“Your feet will get cold!” He said, smiling. “Now, close your eyes!”

You did so, giggling when you heard Nanako and Mimiko hushing their own giggles. You felt yourself be placed onto the ground after someone had slipped your slippers onto your feet. 

“Ready?” Geto asked, his attention to the twins. 

“Ready! Open your eyes, Y/n-sama!”

You felt your breath hitch into your throat. The backyard was covered with a thick blanket of snow, but amongst it all, it was decorated. The large willow tree was entangled with lights, making it look like pure fairy lights. The bridge above the koi fish pond was decorated with ribbons and such, and the twins were seated on the top of it. They were smiling widely, noses turning red from the chilly air. 

“Okay, Y/n-sama!” Mimiko called.

“Turn around!” Nanako finished. 

Confused, you did so, and as you did, you felt your eyes widen. Geto was on one knee behind you, staring up at you with a softened gaze. You looked down at the ring he was holding.
