"Hey," said a males voice behind me. It was Jake, my boyfriend. He had a fight with his parents and slept over here.

"Hey," I responded, smiling. He has been the only one that can make me smile lately.

"What have you been doing?" he says, looking at my computer screen, which was opened to a social networking site, commonly used by trouble making teens.

"Nothing" I say, quickly shutting down my computer. I exhale quite sharply, which alerted him that something was wrong. He looks at me skeptically, but walks to the bathroom to change for school.

I close my bedroom door, and change into jeans and a sweater. I do my makeup in my mirror, paying attention to the slightest details. When I feel like my eyeliner is even, I start to straighten my hair. In the midst of this, someone knocks on my door.

"Come in," I call. Case, my little sister, bounds into theroom. She is going into 4th grade. Unlike me, she has dark, stick-staight hair. Mine is a light brown with blonde highlights, which fall into loose waves.

I finish my hair and stands up. Case hugs my waist, and cutely stares up at me.

I ruffle her hair and ask, "have you been getting into any trouble, Muffin Head?"

"No Les! I've been a good girl!" she smiled up up me. I lean down to her level and whisper into her ear that she should finish getting ready for school. Proving how good she is, she obliges and goes to her room.

At that point, Jake comes in. He looks me up and down, and says, "I liked it better when you didn't straighten your hair."

"Thanks for telling me." I roll my eyes.

"I didn't mean it like that." he protests.

"Whatever." I pick up my tote bag, and walk out the door.
