Zaria rolled her eyes at her mum, her dark hair covering her face, as the car drove along the ever-lasting highway, cars surrounding from every angle. There was no escape.

"You excited? I've heard so many-" her mum asked, desperate to break the silence.

"Yes, yes. I don't need to hear about the flying cars, and levitating schools again. You've told me enough times that it has no effect," Zaria snapped, narrowing her eyes.

"I don't appreciate that attitude, Zaria."

"Just," Zaria paused, trying to control her anger at her mum, "Just forget it already."

She'd been forced to travel with her mother, to enter a city, where creativity is the limit. Nothing was impossible here.

"Zaria, get the mail for me, would you?"

"Fine," Zaria scowled and began dawdling towards the front door, whilst busily texting her friend, organising the last-minute details for tonight's sleepover. As she pushed open the door with her elbow, the sun streamed down on her face, lighting up her rosy complexion, and sparkling blue-gray eyes. Zaria hit a button on her phone and began calling her friend, the sunlight was agony, causing her screen to be not visible.

"Hey, Samantha. Sorry, I'm outside and the sun is a pain."

"No problem. So you'll come at 7?"

Zaria glanced down at her watch, it was only 1:58. That meant five more hours stuck around her stupid mum, who was constantly asking Zaria to do everything, and then Zaria would be at Samantha's house, having the time of her life, staying up past midnight, and pranking Samantha's older brother. Zaria pulled open the mailbox, and grabbed the single letter inside, before slamming it closed with all her might.

"Zaria? You 'kay?" Samantha asked.

"Yeah, it's fine. I'm fine. Everything's fine." Zaria answered.

"Everything is always fine with you." Samantha joked.

"True."

"You're more than just 'fine'. You're my best friend."

"True, again."

Zaria carelessly placed the letter on the dining table, and stormed off to her bedroom, and continued the call; overly excited for tonight.
