"Emily?" I hear. I look at the figure standing on my doorstep.
The hairs on the back of my neck stand up as I hear that all too familiar voice.
"Lannan..." I say, grabbing Brodey's hand in mine.
"Hey. Can I come in?" he asks, standing there with a backpack and a sad look on his face.
I nod and show Lannan to the communal area so he can get some rest.
My mother comes by to take Emelia to stay with her for a few weeks until we get settled in the new house.
"Em?" I hear from behind me.
I turn round to be faced with Lannan looking really sad.
I tilt my head and frown.
"What's the matter?" I ask, sitting with him at the kitchen table.
"Tannar.. she's in the hospital, I came all the way over here to tell you," he whispers, trying not to cry.
I nod, and sigh, letting a few tears escape.
I put a hand on Lannan's shoulder in an attempt to comfort him.
He looks up at me and smiles slightly.
"Come on, we need to go paint the bedroom. Wanna help?" I ask, grabbing some equipment.
Lannan nods, excited.
Brodey, Lannan and I head to the bedroom and begin painting.
We take a break about an hour in and head downstairs to the front communal room.
I sit next to Brodey and put my arm around him, kissing him gently on the cheek.
"Are you okay, Em?" I hear just as I pass out, about ten minutes into the movie we're all watching.
"Shit.. Em.. wake the fuck up.. cmon, wake up.."
I don't respond. I can hear every word but I am unable to speak back to whoever it is.
"Em.. please.. Lannan, call for help.. Em, just wake up.."
The voices fade out and I wake up however long later in a hospital bed.
"What h-happened, where am I?"
"You're in the hospital, you had a bad vertigo episode and passed out. It's okay though, the nurse is looking after you," Brodey smiles, stroking my hair.
"Again? What am I going to do with myself?" I sigh, chuckling slightly.
My vertigo has started to be a daily occurrence but it's never sent me to the emergency room, so this is something really new for me.
I'm not usually good with hospitals due to past experience but I know that with Brodey and Lannan here that I'll be okay.
"Can you go get me some nuggets?" I ask the boys, handing Brodey my bank card.
"Put that away silly, I'll get you some," he says, putting my bank card back in my bag.
He kisses me then leaves with Lannan to get some food.
Not long after, the nurse comes round with the tea trolley and offers me a cup.
"Are you feeling alright? You look down and I'm concerned for you," she says, sitting beside me.
I think for a minute before shaking my head.
"I'm not okay, I'm not okay, I'm not okay," I keep repeating, getting more and more advanced into my panic attack as I go.
