Chapter 1~
Journal Entry 1~June 20th, 1987
3:33 A.M~I am unable to sleep due to a strange utterly common knocking on my window.
~
I ravaged through my desk drawers. My only source of protection from the things was missing. "Someone must have stolen it" I told myself. I had to find the necklace before nightfall, even though they still lurk and watch in the day. Sydney! She had definitely stolen it. She was an ex-best friend who had never believed in my "stories" or that a simple stone could affect anything.

I ran towards the front door only to be stopped by my mother. "Now where do you think you're going? You haven't eaten breakfast yet!" she chuckled. I sighed, and then moped towards the kitchen table. There sat a small bowl of soggy cereal. I think it had been sitting out for a while. My mother sat down across from me and began to speak. "So-" my mother was interrupted by Jennas crying. She quickly stood up to tend to Jenna. I loved Jenna, but my mom never had a second to talk to me. She was always rushing to take care of Jenna, my 2 year old sister. I guess my mothers love had expired since I was 14. My father was almost never home, so that didn't help.

"Ugh, come on!" I yelled as I struggled to get the last cheerio. My mother looked up at me and stared at me like I had two heads. "Quiet down, don't forget your sister is sleeping" my mother muttered. "Whatever" I said, standing up to put my bowl in the sink. "Delta Caddel!" my mom whispered angrily. I knew I was in trouble.

I sat on the doorsteps at the edge of my porch as the rain poured down. I had nearly been killed by my mother for saying "whatever". The screen door squealed behind me. I quickly turned around to see it firmly shut. "What had I just heard? Was I imagining it?" I thought. Then I remembered my necklace. I had to go to Sydney's house which I had been longing to forget. I went towards the screen door, then I noticed there was a note dangling from the handle. It read "check the marshes DELTA~xoxo Sydney.
~
After I had gotten over my happiness to not have to go to Sydney's house, I raced inside to change my shoes. Since I was going to the marshes, I would need thick boots. After I was finished getting ready for the marshes, I rushed out of the house. It was almost midday and I sure had a far way to go.
~
The trees reached into the sky making the light dim. The ground was sticky and slimy, but I didn't care. I needed to get my necklace. Sydney suddenly slammed into me at full speed, sending us both backwards. I stood up. "Sydney-" I started as she rushed towards me. "You've got to help me!" She silently screamed. "What have you done now!" I yelled. Suddenly the marsh went silent. Sydney placed the necklace in my hand and closed it. "Run, go now!" She shouted. "What?" I said. She shushed me. The reverberation of chains grew louder, neering us. She gestured for me to go. I began walking, looking behind me, which I shouldn't. I ran far out of the marsh. I stood alongside the hill. Suddenly a loud scream brewed from the forest. I knew she was gone.
