(A.N.: I apologize on the delay for these next chapters. Please enjoy)
"You're right," I agreed, standing and brushing mud from my front. "We have to try."
Tanjiro nodded, one hand on his sword. "Inosuke, would you lead the way?"
"I'll lead the way - better than you," Inosuke taunted before scurrying off though the rain. We trailed close behind him.
It seemed that Tanjiro and Inosuke had given up protecting the lower ranking slayers for the moment. Though, it wasn't a problem because the demon would soon turn full attention to us as soon as we made it to the roof.
We pressed our backs against the cold wall of the demon's building. I turned to look at Tanjiro, who was drawing his sword. "Do you have a plan from here?"
The boy nodded. "I can come from the center. Inosuke, you take the left, and y/n, take the right."
Inosuke nodded and leapt off, drawing two swords from his back as he ran to get into position.
"I know we just met, but do your best," Tanjiro said, clasping my hands in his. I gave him a nod.
"You don't have to worry about me - we just need to work together," I told him.
The boy ran off and leapt onto the low roof of a building behind the one that was our target. I ran to the right and hopped onto a wooden balcony jutting out from the building's side. From there, I would have a clear shot at the roof.
"Now!" Tanjiro's shout cut through the sound of the rain beating against the roof tiles.
I gathered power in my legs and leapt upwards. The demon glared at me viciously as I landed on the roof. I faced her with my sword drawn, breathing calmly.
"PIG ASSAULT!" Inosuke screamed as he leapt from the left, aiming at the demon. Rather than weigh the situation, he preferred to act.
The demon growled, baring long fangs. She lifted her fan and sent a current rippling through the air. Inosuke was pushed aside as the current interfered with his course.
"You think you can take me down?!" he challenged, rebounding off the roof and running at the demon.
His sword caught the demon in the arm. She growled angrily as blood leaked from the large wound.
"Breath of water, second form - Water Wheel!"
A glowing wheel of blue careened through the air towards the demon. She dodged, leaping to the side neatly as the water wheel blasted a hole through the roof.
I took the opportunity to strike at her while her eyes were fixed on Tanjiro. "Breath of water, fourth form - Striking Tide!"
Rushing water flowed from my katana as I charged at the demon. I slashed at her with all my might, trying to land a blow to her neck. She blocked me with her fan.
My eyes widened as I felt my foot slip against the wet tiles. A small gasp escaped my throat as my body came unbalanced.
"Y/n!" Inosuke grabbed my arm as Tanjiro launched another attack on the demon. (Inosuke probably messes up your name like he does with literally every name - you just decide how)
"Thanks," I called, jumping back up onto the main part of the roof.
The demon gave a roar and formed another current with her fan.
"Look out!" Tanjiro shouted.
I shoved Inosuke out of the way as we both leapt sideways. The air current hurled past us, whistling ominously.
