"So, x is...?" Kim Namjoon looks at you expectantly, a small smile playing at his lips.
"Seven?" you ask, glancing up at him.
Joonie's smile widens enough to reveal his dimples. "You got it! You're definitely going to pass the midterm, Y/N."
You breathe a sigh of relief, pushing a hand through your hair. "Do you really think so?" You worry your lower lip in between your teeth. You've been stressed about your upcoming Intro to Math Principles midterm for weeks now. Luckily for you, your older brother's best friend is a certified genius. Namjoon has been drilling you almost every waking moment of the day since you asked him to help you study. Not that you're complaining; far from it. Kim Namjoon is an even better teacher than your college professor. He's patient and kind, never losing his cool even if he has to explain something five times.
"Yes," Namjoon replies, stretching his arms above his head. You catch sight of a strip of skin near the waistband of his joggers, and your mind automatically sprints to a place that you usually only visit in the wee hours of the night—when you're alone. You mentally shake yourself, returning your focus to Namjoon. "I know you're going to do great."
"So what should we work on next?" As hard as it may be to believe, you're actually eager to tackle the next section—and take your mind off how attractive Namjoon looks right now.
"It's cute that you're so excited to keep going, but it's important to take breaks, too. I don't want you to get burned out before your exam," Namjoon says as he shuts your textbook.
"A break?" Your brow furrows. "But, I don't want to forget everything we studied. I don't want all the time you spent helping me end up being wasted."
"Hey," Namjoon says, placing a hand on yours. "Time with you is never a waste. I don't mind helping you. You aren't a bother to me at all."
Your heart skips a beat at the sincerity of his words. Truthfully, you've always had a little thing for Namjoon. But you've never attempted to pursue anything for fear of ruining things between the two of you. You've always wondered how he's felt about you, though.
"How do you think we should take our break then?" you ask, quickly busying yourself with putting away your study materials to hide your flushed cheeks.
Namjoon hums in thought. "We could watch a movie, or play some video games, or..."
"How about a nap?" you grin.
"We can do that," Namjoon smiles. "Come on." He stands then, reaching a hand out toward you. He leads you out of the dining room and upstairs to his room, shutting the door behind him.
You've never set foot in Namjoon's room; in fact, you've never even been to his house before you asked him to help you study. It doesn't look at all like how you imagined it would. You expected to see a tidy space; perhaps a bit minimalist, with only the essentials. However, contrary to your expectations, Namjoon's room is a bit messy with a pile of clothes on the carpet in front of his bed, books towering precariously on the nightstand, and old posters on the walls. You walk over to the nightstand, picking up a book from the top of the stack, flipping through a few pages while Namjoon straightens out his bed and takes care of the pile of clothes on the floor.
"Sorry," he says once he returns, shutting the door behind him once more. "Ready?" He pulls back his comforter and you climb into bed, your heart racing a mile a minute. He draws the covers over you, seeming to hesitate at the last second before going around to the other side of the bed and slipping in beside you. "Come here," he murmurs. He must notice your hesitation, because he pulls you into his chest. After a moment, he chuckles. "Are you nervous? I can feel your heart beating against my chest."
