Your family was dysfunctional, that was no secret. It seemed like everyone was involved in something they wanted to hide from rest of the family, and you being the DedSec member didn't make you any exception. You hid it better than the rest though and everyone thought you were the ordinary one in your family. You could hack your way through your family's secrets, download them and then wipe your tracks, all in two seconds. But you didn't do it unless you had concerns about their safety.
Especially your mom had been acting weird your whole life - she barely drank alcohol and didn't use drugs, but sometimes she was acting like she had some secret, and whenever you brought that up, the rest of your family became quiet and avoiding the topic.
You weren't concerned about her safety, but you loved speculating the reasons.
"And then they're acting all weird because... because we have some big family secret or something and no one's telling me anything about it. Maybe I have an extra sibling hid to the attic, my evil twin or something."
Wrench chuckled as he was tinkering something at his work spot. "Or maybe that secret is that your mom is really a time traveler."
You snorted. "Yeah, that's definitely the most sensible explanation for that. I wouldn't even be surprised at this point."
Wrench turned his gaze on you and his mask changed to ^^, indicating he was smiling. You smiled back and shook your head.
"Well, maybe I'll figure it out someday. But it's okay even if I won't. As long as she's safe, everything is fine."
You plopped down to the couch by climbing over the back rest and it let out a protesting crack.
"Fortunately I have someone to share these crazy theories with. Everyone else would think I'm crazy." you sighed.
Wrench turned towards you and extended his hands holding a screwdriver and a piece of metal in his hands. "Hey, we're two crazies with crazy theories. We understand each other, that's why we're best friends."
You let out a short laugh. "Well, that's true."
