beware

Chapter One

Loud thunder roared as heavy rain poured from the night sky whilst creating pattering noises against the window of a modern apartment building in the outskirts of a run-down neighborhood. Celeste was unfortunate as she found herself hiding away in one of the rooms the rented, she was neither rich or poor, but had enough money to afford a decent place for herself.

She sat comfortably with her legs crossed and occupied with a school assignment document on her laptop, next to her was a large, black cat seemingly sprawled out while quietly sleeping. A 'bzz' knocked Celeste out of her trance and she turned to look at the device, the screen lit up immediately showing a black, yellow-eyed cat on the lock screen with a new incoming message from 'Mum'. 

Rolling her eyes and groaning she unlocked the phone by one swipe up.

She was curious as to what her mother wanted and clicked on the app that had a little '1' in red at the corner of the icon, she saw it was from the 'Messages' app and clicked to see her mother had messaged her. She bit her lip and sighed while pressing on the contact name.

[mum:] hi, haven't seen you in a while are you okay? miss you lots and will you do me a favour please?

what would you like me to do?  [:you]

[mum:] do u remember my friend Joana? Well her son is drunk at a party and she can't pick him up as she works nights, will you please go pick him up? 

mum you want me to go to a party im not even invited too and pick up some random guy!?[you]

[mum] look i know its a lot to ask but please ill send you some money as a thank you if you'd like.

fine[you] opened 

Celeste physically scoffs at that and grin cheekily at the thought of free money, but then slightly frowns remembering the situation she has to deal with. It's always been like this, having to do this and that for other peoples benefits. She was mentally exhausted and always felt pressured by her mother trying to bribe her with money, but she loved her.

Slowly climbing out of bed, she tied her long hair back and changed into comfortable clothes before grabbing her car keys and locking her door behind her. The apartment had an outdoor walkway leading downstairs to a car park, like a motel. At the last few steps she noticed her neighbour Carl at the outdoor coffee machine.

"Hi Carl." I smiled at him as he turned around towards me.

"Celestee my favorite neighbour, bit late for you to be awake?" He questioned dragging my name while looking down at his watch.

"Assignments and I have to run an errand for my mum." I rolled my eyes as I started to walk away waving at him.
