"Come on, Morrigan, we don't want to be late!"

Morrigan Crow glanced at her appearance one last time in the mirror before sighing as she rushed out of her bathroom and out of her bedroom door, nearly running smack bang into her stepmother, Ivy.

"Oh! Here you are! And don't you look lovely! Come on now, our reservation is for twelve o'clock!"

Ivy was a bubbly young woman with beautiful sun-kissed skin and lush blonde hair, which she usually wore curled. She was the second wife of Corvus Crow - a celebrated politic from the Wundrous Society, and Morrigan's father.

As she followed Ivy down the halls of Crow Manor, Morrigan smiled as she remembered how much she had hated Ivy until the past three to four years - she had been so... different to the rest of the family. Living in Crow Manor, there were three other Crows than Corvus, Ivy and Morrigan. Ornella Crow, Corvus' mother, and Wolfram and Guntram, Ivy and Corvus' twin boys - Morrigan's half-brothers.

Morrigan now regarded Ivy as her mother - she was the closest thing she had to one - and the two got on quite well. They'd have "girls night" from time to time and included Ornella when she was up for it. Wolfram and Guntram loved their big sister, always wanting to play with her. But Corvus.... he was nearly always busy with work and hardly had any time for his family. It wasn't that he wanted it to be this way - quite the opposite, actually. So he'd spend money on luxurious cruises and fancy meals, such as the lunch they were going to presently.

When they pulled up at the restaurant, Corvus turned to his family to give them the usual 'behaviour lecture'.

"Now, this is a good friend of mine's diner, please be on your bestest, best behaviour - no foot wars, boys. No laughing at jokes that you were eavesdropping on, Mum-"

Ornella scoffed at this, cutting her son off, "we know the drill, Corvus - no this, no that. Let's just go eat! I'm starving!"

As they got out of the car, Morrigan heard Ivy ask Corvus, "so who's the friend who owns this 'Deucalion Restaurant'? Are they from work or the Wundrous Society?"

"Yes, my love, he is. Jupiter North."

"Ohhh! I've seen him on television-"

Morrigan rolled her eyes, walking faster to catch up with her grandmother, who was being dragged along by her two little grandsons.

She'd heard of this famed Jupiter North - he had an award named after him at her school, of which both Jupiter and Corvus had attended in their younger years. Her best friend, Hawthorne Swift, looked up to this guy like he was a god, an idol. Her other best friend, Cadence Blackburn, thought it was ridiculous.

She followed her brothers and grandmother into the Deucalion Restaurant and stood waiting for Ivy and her father to find their reserved table.

A waiter with moose-brown hair, hazelnut eyes and a name tag reading Martha led them to their table and placed six glasses and two bottles of water in front of them alongside four menus.

"Here are the menus; someone will be around to take your orders shortly," Martha smiled at them before walking over to lead another family to their seats.

Sighing, Morrigan opened the menu in front of her, hoping that the restaurant's meals were as good as the restaurant itself seemed to be. Flipping through the pages, she decided on either the fish and chips - a classic that you can nearly never go wrong with - or the Wunder Burger - a beef patty with lettuce, pineapple, cheese, beetroot, a few other toppings and a sauce of your choice, messy but sounded delicious. But a pizza also sounded good, as did a salad.

Oh, why did there have to be so much to chose from?

"...and for you?"

Morrigan snapped her head up, only to be met with the most beautiful sight she'd ever seen.
