Prologue
You would think after so much pain you would be numb to it. The feeling of your head underwater, wanting to come up for air so bad but you can't. That's how I would describe what I'm feeling. The scars on my body never fade. The pain dug deep into my heart, never seeming to languish.
Everything changed within 5 seconds. The dynamic of how everything is, changed at the snap of a finger.
Sometimes the people you love can turn against you and make you feel like your world is crashing down. They can change everything in a heartbeat. Even the good people start to fade. When everything starts to get better, it shatters like glass.
"Cam-Cam, look!" I shout, causing my twin to look in my direction.
I was in the middle of the street doing cartwheels. Nothing a 9 year old would think was something odd of.
"Be careful Cami!" Camryn warned.
I stood up from the landing looking into my twin sister's direction, "What?" I said, squinting to try to get a better look at her.
All of a sudden I was pushed out of the way, landing head first into the cement road.
I start to rub my head when I hear a crash.
I look up. "Mom!" I scream running towards her.
Her eyes are shut. "Daddy it's okay, mom is just taking a nap."
An innocent 9 year old didn't know her mom wasn't taking a nap.
Even though back then I thought she was taking a nap, I cried. I cried harder and harder by each passing second.
"Mom! Mom! Mom, wake up!" I yelled, shaking her body but she didn't open her eyes.
Mom pushed me out of the way just so I wouldn't get hurt.
I lay my head into her chest and cry.
"I'm sorry mama, I didn't mean to get you hurt."
"You killed her!" Dad shouts. "You killed the one person I loved more than anything!"
I look up slowly, meeting his gaze. "I'm so sorry daddy, I just wanted to show Cam-Cam my cartwheels."
"You are just a reminder of what I have lost!"
Camryn starts to grab my hand pulling me back. We have never seen dad angry before. I guess even after the destruction I just caused, she still considered me her sister. At least enough to want to protect me.
"It was an accident dad!" Camryn yelled at him.
"Did you just talk back to me?" He takes slow, nerve wracking steps towards the both of us.
Until we both ended up with a blow to the face.
