Summary of this chapter: Tomioka's side of the story.

Giyu grunted in pain. This demon was different(who would've thought) and stronger than the ones he's fought.

The demon came striking once more, Giyu just barely managed to move away from the attack.

He fell to his knees, holding his stomach in pain. The demon had gave him a humongous cut on his abdomen. It hurts.

Blood.

That was what he saw. Blood dripping from his forehead, mouth, and stomach.

He hated the sight.

It reminded him of his late sister. How she protected him from being killed by a demon. The gruesome sight of blood he witnessed after the demon had left his house.(the demon was a lower moon with a bad sense of smell I guess)

He was also reminded of his best friend's death. Now he doesn't exactly know how he died, but when he was given the news, all hope was drained from him. Sabito.

Sabito has saved him during the final section. Giyu hadn't killed any demon at all, he was the one who needed saving and Sabito came to his aid.

Unlucky for him, he survived and Sabito didn't.

Giyu was broken out of his thoughts when a sharp pain was inflicted on his back. The demon had disappeared from his sight and slashed him in the back.

Giyu grunted, picking up his sword and tried slashing the demon, but it was no use.

Giyu felt pain.  He had always known pain.

He felt pain when his sister died. He felt pain when Sabito died. He felt pain when he was insulted by both Shinazugawa and Iguro.

Ah, right. The Hashira's.

The higher ranks of the demon slayer corps.

Giyu never thought himself as a Hashira. He always thought he was useless, and didn't deserve the title as the water Hashira. Sabito did.

He wanted to cry. Why was his life like this?

Surely, he was weak. Compared to Uzui and Gyomei. Heck, even Muichiro is stronger than him!

Then images of the Hashira's popped up in his head.

Why.

Giyu felt to the ground, clutching his stomach in pain.

"Would you look at that...what a weakling you are, you pathetic human." The upper rank spoke.

Giyu knew he was weak. He knew it. Shinazugawa had pointed it out.

Why does Iguro and Shinazugawa hate him so much? He never knew why.

He's been called names by Obanai, he ignores them, but of course his words hurt. Giyu wasn't sure what to think about Obanai. The man was very quiet, he was often cold to others. Except..Mitsuri. Giyu was aware of the crush the serpent Hashira had on the live Hashira. It was painfully obvious. Giyu wasn't a big fan of Obanai( the insults guys ☹️) He didn't hate the man, but he didn't like him either. He's neutral.

And with Sanemi, it's even worse. As Sanemi manages to throw every insults at him, calling him as weak fool, bastard etc. Sanemi was always harsh with his words, especially towards him. He was even more harsh when physical. ( sparing with that man ain't easy 🤧). He...didn't hate Sanemi.

Although it wasn't all that bad, Mitsuri was always kind to him. The woman was revealing way too much skin, but Giyu had always enjoyed her presence despite not speaking to her. Her voice was high pitched, but kind and sweet. He liked her(as a comrade y'all) He truly appreciated Mitsuri, and sometimes he resembles his older sister. It hurts to think about it.

Next was Rengoku. Giyu admired the man, and his optimistic ways of approaching things. He also envied the guy. Giyu appreciates Rengoku for his hard work, and kind nature towards him. Rengoku talks to him anytime they cross path, always smiling bright at him(to the point where Giyu thinks he might go blind.) Rengoku was a fine man. He was a gentle man. He liked him as well.

A giant hit was struck on his head. He dropped his sword, and fell face flat to the floor. His eyes rolled all the way back to his head and pretty soon the whole place turned black.

The last thing he heard was a scream. I wonder who that was.

'I guess...I'm dying now...'
