"What the actual fuck?" Cory sat in her chair, parents sat in front of her both on a different side of the table. The idea, well now future, they had just presented was ludicrous. Why would she ever say yes to something like that? It was an idiotic idea for her, and she knew she would hate it.
"Look, we wouldn't want it either, but you're barely passing" her father tried reasoning with the girl, regretting that decision instantly though. Cory when angry was not a pleasant person to interact with to say the least, she would let it take over and just blur any thoughts.
"So what? Streaming is going great - even you said that!" Cory pointed an accusing finger at her mother, who had mainly kept silent. She knew her mother wasn't really one for conflict, but in Cory's eyes this was time to drag her in. Letting all this just happen around her wasn't helping the situation, her pacifist nature usually helped with resolving a situation even quicker.
"But like we said when you wanted to take streaming more seriously, in case it falls through, editing would be something similar and you could take that at college. Right Cory, we know it's not a good decision, but we know the boy who's tutoring you and if he's anything like his parents he will be a sweetheart" Cory's mother gave a soft smile, one which her daughter struggled to not to give into.
However Cory held up the act, she was too determined to let her mothers little mind games which she was 100% were going on get to her.
"He might be a sweetheart, I couldn't care less, I'm not taking the tutoring" Cory sighed as she sat back in her chair, the looks on her parents faces were practically screaming at her that she had lost the argument and there was no point carrying it on.
"Try it for a month, a month is all we will make you do. After that, you can stop, is that fair?" her mother took a breath in at the end, Cory knowing that would be happening anyways. It was either a worse outcome by all the arguing or a better one where they don't fight at all.
"Sure, whatever, fine" Cory was only originally planned on answering with one then responses, but they all ended up coming out and somehow made her seem like she had given into their idea.
"Good, thank you Cory, you want anything to eat before stream?" Her dad asked, relieved that there was a lack of conflict in the end because he was well aware of the outcome.
"No thanks, I have some left over Pringles from school" she smiled as she left the room.
Her mind was clouded over with just dread. What if this tutoring went shit? She wasn't good at her course anyways and there was practically no saving her, so was tutoring going to help in any way? Probably not.
But give it a try is what she said to herself. In the end it might pull off, in some weird and unusual way.
