day 72

"Ken-chan? Kozu-chan? Are you there?" 

"Rumi-chan." He muttered as he recognized Tetsurou's sister Terumi. 

"Ken-chan! It's good to hear from you again! I've missed you! How are you?" Terumi asked. "I'm doing fine, Rumi-chan. Uhm, is Kuro there?" He asked with a small voice. 

"Oh yeah, right I forgot." Terumi muttered before taking a deep breath.

"Please don't be shocked but we're in the hospital right now since yesterday." Terumi continued.

"What?" He felt as if his soul has separated from his body the moment he heard that. 

"Tetsurou suddenly collapsed yesterday morning. We didn't know why but mom and dad said he's been sick lately." And his ear suddenly deafened on their own after Terumi's words and his hand started to tremble.

"We're waiting for his results until now but the doctor said they would release it this morning. But don't worry, he's stable and asleep now." Terumi reassured.

"Good thing I guessed Tetsurou's password after so many attempts. I don't have your new number nor do mom and dad. And I can't open Tetsurou's phone to contact you earlier." 

"Kenma? Are you still there?" Terumi asked worriedly and he realized he hasn't spoken since Terumi dropped the news.

"I...." He was trying to calm himself down because many scenes have flased in his mind the moment Terumi said they're in the hospital. 

"Calm down, Ken-chan. Tetsurou will be fine, okay?" Terumi comforted while he nodded weakly despite speaking on phone. 

"Thank you, Rumi-chan. Can you keep me updated?" He asked silently. "Yes, of course! But for now, take some rest, okay?" Terumi said.

"You sound so restless so sleep first, okay? I know you Ken-chan, you're like a brother to me too. Tetsurou doesn't like you to get sick, remember?" Terumi asked. He just hummed in response.

"Now, sleep okay? I'll call you as soon as I can about Tetsurou's condition." 

"Thank you, Rumi-chan." He said before ending the call.

He didn't notice he's been crying already and he wiped his tears as he sniffed. He doesn't even know what to do or to think but he just feels helpless being away from Tokyo and from Kuroo.

He aimlessly contacted Akaashi as he felt the need to talk and fortunately, Akaashi answered immediately despite the ungodly hour and he spouted all his feelings as Akaashi comforted him. 

He continued talking and crying until he fell asleep and Akaashi ended the call, telling Bokuto about the situation Kuroo's in. 

And he dreamed of Kuroo falling into an abyss and he was unable to get hold of Kuroo's hand.
