When Riddhima and Vansh had first checked into the hotel, she had assumed they would be staying there for a few days but given the number of clothes Vansh had brought back from the mansion, she had started to think otherwise.

The first few days had passed in her resting and trying to regain some mobility back in her limbs. It was a slow and painful process but she was able to move her arms and use her hands at a decent pace. Her legs however were a different matter.

She eyed the walker in front of her and after taking a deep breath, she made herself stand and hold the handle. After flexing her curled fingers over them a few times, she slowly shuffled her feet forward. Admittedly, this was a much longer process than she would have liked. Unlike her upper limbs, she needed to actively think about how to move her legs and feet.

Riddhima took another deep breath and stopped. She hadn't even reached the end of the hallway and she was already exhausted. She slowed down when she heard some loud clatter. Vansh had left early in the morning to attend some urgent work and hadn't announced his arrival to her yet.

She was about to call out Vansh's name when she heard multiple angered voices. Her heart raced.

What if it wasn't Vansh that was out there? Anupriya might have been arrested, but Kabir was still free and given his panache for undetectable disguises, he could be slipping in and out of places as he wished.

She looked over her shoulder at the bedroom door. She wanted to go back to it but her feet simply refused to move. She glanced down at them and punched her thighs so that they would react.

"I don't fucking believe this." Riddhima looked up, and felt her heart calm down at the sound of Vansh's loud voice. "How the fuck is that little shit not behind bars yet?"

"Because the evidence that we have is not enough to charge him with any serious crimes." Spoke a slightly frustrated voice that Riddhima had not heard before.

Using the assistance of the walker, she made herself finish the long journey towards the end of the hallway.

"We know he was involved in all of this." Vansh argued.

"But not in a way that could be proven." The voice countered. "And as you know Mr. Raisinghania, the court needs concrete proof."

Vansh scoffed. "Which we're not going to get because that fucker isn't going to open his mouth and neither is his bitch of a mother."

Riddhima peeked around the wall and saw Vansh taking a swig of a dark amber liquid. She didn't need to look at the clock to know it was far too early in the morning for him to be drinking.

"He's a crafty little man who knows how to hide his tracks well." The stranger spoke. "Then there's the matter of his job as a police officer. I'm pretty sure that has surely given him some advantages that a regular citizen wouldn't be privy to."

"I want him behind bars." Vansh gritted.

"Not going to happen." The man retorted. "There is no direct evidence linking him to any of the crimes. Your mom's murder? That was Anupriya. We have the recorded confessions obtained by both Ragini and Riddhima that will attest to this, as well as their statements. The attack on Ragini? We have Anupriya confessing to the same. The attack on Riddhima? CCTV footage, the DNA gained from your wife's fingernails, the poisonous syringe found outside her window - everything points to her. But there is nothing that links Kabir to all of this."

"She took his name." Vansh snarled. "They're both related. Do a DNA test and it would prove it."

"Great. They're mother and son." The man spread his arms. "That's not a crime, Vansh."
