Coming out

Quinn and Santana had been - what seemed to be to the trained eye, having a deep conversation near their lockers. If anyone paid close attention they wouldn't have missed the gloomy shimmer in the eyes of the snarky brunette. Quinn had looked around before pulling the brunette in her arms and gently rubbing her back. School was out and they all had been heading to glee club.

In came Blaine and Kurt trudging down the halls of McKinley giggling carefree because not a single human (other than their friends and teacher) were in the building which means they were free to loop arms and whisper mindlessly to each other without any grief from the head Neanderthals in the school. A low sob caught their attention and they immediately back peddled. Blaine looked at Kurt with worry etched on his face. “Tell me if I'm crazy but did-” “You just hear someone cry? Yeah, I did.” Kurt said. Kurt and Blaine made a conscious decision to check it out together.

They rounded the corner of the lockers, tight grip on each other. “I feel like we're in one of those action films.” Kurt whispered. Blaine let out a low chuckle. “The one where the two princes save the Palace from the evil witches?” Blaine said, raising his eyebrow. Kurt smacked his arm gently earning a “ouch!” in return. “Oh boohoo it didn't even-” The sound came around again. “Okay seriously what is-”

The two boys stopped dead in their tracks. There stood Santana enveloped in Quinn's arms against the lockers. “I don't believe it.” Blaine said, wide eyes. “Quinn and Santana.” Kurt said. “Being…??” Blaine finished. Well, what else could he say. He truly didn't believe what he was seeing. Those two were always in cat fights. Straight up animosity. “When did those two become friends?” Blaine asked, leaning into Kurt's personal space. It was such a weary question! You could never keep up with who's with who in the new directions.

Kurt shrugged his shoulders. “Why are you asking me?” He whispered.

Blaine then shrugged his shoulders, eyes transfixed on the pair in front of them. In what universe. “Shouldn't you go over there? See what's wrong? I mean it's so unlike Santana to cry.”

Kurt huffed. “Why me?”
Blaine finally looked at Kurt with a smirk playing on his lips.
“I don't know...they were your friends before they were mine.” Kurt sighed and stomped his foot. “Fine!” he said with a roll of his eyes. He handed Blaine his cross body bag turning in the girls direction. He heard a whispered “good luck!! I love you” behind him as he walked up with a grimace. Gently, he moved like there was a wild animal on the other side of the room and If he so much as stepped on a leaf the animal would pounce on him in just a matter of seconds.

He got closer and realized Quinn had spotted him. He watched the blond whisper to Santana before the cheerio quickly removed her head from Quinn's shoulder. Kurt awkwardly smiled and made his way over to them. “Ladies.” He said with a swift wave. Santana desperately tried to hide the fact that she had been crying by turning her back to him. Kurt watched with concern spread on his face.

“Can't you see we're busy here?” The brunette hissed. Kurt stood slack jawed. “Yes, Uh, well I was- we were heading to glee club- Blaine and i-” Kurt saw Blaine from a distance waving a hand under his chin signaling him not to put him in the equation. That only made all three of them turn to see Blaine standing, gesturing wide. He turned hot on his heels and looked at the banner hanging on the ceiling scratching his head.

Kurt turned back fist in hand and blood rising to his cheeks. “Anyway, we couldn't help but notice well…” He gestured. “We don't need your help, prancy elf.” Kurt would roll his eyes if he didn't know Santana used insults as a defense mechanism. So he shook it off and started all over. Okay, new game plan. “Excuse me.” he said, holding up a finger. He quickly ran that awkward little run you do when someone holds a door open for you but you're far away. “Sweetie!!” He called quietly. Blaine turned around almost immediately.

“Kurt? What's-” Kurt grabbed Blaine's hand and ran down the hall. “ I thought this was my thing.” Blaine said smiling. Kurt would totally hit him for being so cheesy. But he spared him. That just meant it was justified when he did it randomly out of the blue.

Kurt pulled Blaine to a halt. “Uhh?” “Quinn, Santana...Blaine and I are here to help.” He preened. Blaine's face dropped. He leaned over to Kurt once again. “Youtotallysetmeup.” He whispered through gritted teeth. Kurt just stayed silent bouncing on his toes. One could only hope for the best.
